A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song Use Somebody by Kings of Leon. I hope you all enjoy it.
Eddie was pretty certain that he'd never seen someone as effortlessly pretty as you were. You were a work of art. An angel that came to Earth. The most beautiful sunset in the form of a human woman. And God, he couldn't bring himself to stop looking at you, even though he knew he wasn't exactly subtle about it.
Hell, Gareth had been teasing him about it from the very first time you'd worked the bar at the Hideout. Jeff wasn't much better, either, bringing you up in conversation whenever they were driving over for a gig, asking whether Eddie thought you would be on shift that night. You always were, standing there at the bar working away and still looking as gorgeous as ever. It was impressive really, how you still looked so stunning even after a shitty, long shift.
Of course, it was all well and good thinking you were pretty. Shit, Eddie was pretty sure that there wasn't a single straight man alive who wouldn't be totally infatuated with you. But that didn't mean a thing, really. He wanted nothing more than to sweep you off of your feet and go waltzing off into the sunset with you, but deep down, he was pretty certain that it wouldn't ever be that simple.
Sure, he had something about him that drew women in. He wasn't the most unattractive person going. There were plenty of girls who were more than willing to flirt and go on dates with him. But you weren't like the other girls he'd dated. You weren't some doting music fan willing to throw yourself at the feet of an aspiring rockstar in the hopes that someday he'd make it big and you could tell stories of that one time you dated back in high school or college or whenever. Actually, he was pretty certain you hadn't even given him a second glance, which was somehow, a Hell of a lot worse.
"Quit making goo-goo eyes at the barmaid and get your guitar tuned, idiot," Gareth snorted, giving Eddie's shoulder a rough shove, and making him realise, quite suddenly, that he had been staring again. "Dude," he breathed out a soft chuckle. "You've got it so bad-"
"No, I-"
"That new song you made us all learn this week," Gareth interrupted. "It's about her, right?"
Eddie hesitated slightly. "It's just a song."
"You didn't deny it," he announced, a little too loudly for Eddie's liking, his head shooting over to make sure you weren't listening in on their conversation.
"Shut up-"
"You're writing songs about this girl and you haven't even spoken to her," Gareth pressed on. "Have you ever considered going over there and just saying hi?"
Eddie rolled his eyes. "I'm not taking romance advice from a kid who asked his mom to be his date to a school dance-"
"That was in 2nd grade, dude," Gareth bit out, shaking his head. "I was 8."
"It's still weird," Eddie uttered, raising an eyebrow at his friend.
Gareth looked totally out of place for a moment, shaking his head in disbelief. "Look, if you want to keep pining after her from a distance, then that's fine. But after the show, I'm going to go and say hi."
"You can't do that. That's against guy code."
"Guy code stops counting if it takes you 6 months to even talk to the girl."
Eddie let out a disgruntled sigh as Gareth shrugged, pushing past him and onto the stage, leaving Eddie to trail on behind him.
As the first few songs played, Eddie couldn't keep his eyes from straying back to you, lingering in your direction as you cleaned glasses and poured drinks, sending sweet smiles to your regulars and receiving pretty generous tips in return.
