A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song You Said No by Busted. Sorry that I've been AWOL recently! I didn't realise it had been almost a month since I uploaded last! For this one, Reader is Chrissy's twin sister. I hope you all enjoy this one.

"She's so hot," Eddie grumbled, letting out a deep groan as he let his head fall back against his seat, his eyes settling on the roof of the van whilst you watched on with furrowed brows. "And she knows it too. Constantly strutting around with that smile of hers-"

"Who?" you murmured, still slightly confused by Eddie's outburst. Sure, he jumped from crush to crush like it was nothing, but he had never seemed this caught up on any of them before.

He sat up rather suddenly, his eyes laser-focused on another car in the parking lot. Your car. The car that Chrissy was driving today instead of you.

"Oh," you murmured, swallowing around the lump that formed in your throat. "Right," you pressed on.

"I'm pretty sure she's the hottest person that's ever existed," he continued, completely unaware of the way he was tearing your heart out of your chest. "And she's so nice too-"

"Eddie," you murmured softly, frowning as you turned fully in your seat to face him, waiting for him to retrain his attention on you.

"I think I'm going to ask her to the dance-"

"Ed," you uttered, a little more firmly. "I'm not sure that's a good idea."

He finally glanced over at you, finding your expression set, his stomach dropping. "Why not?"

"Her friends are all assholes. They'll never stop picking on you if you ask her out-"

"You think she'll say no." It wasn't a question really, more of a statement, and for a moment, you swore you saw his bottom lip tremble. God, he looked like a kicked puppy.

"No, I just- "

"It's fine," he interrupted, clearing his throat slightly and sitting up a bit straighter in his seat. "I get it. You don't think I'm good enough for her."

You let out a soft sigh. "It's not that, I promise," you rushed out. "I think you're too good for her. You're so sweet, and kind, and fun. Eddie, she likes guys like Jason Carver. She's friends with some of the meanest people in the school. She doesn't deserve someone as good as you."

He hesitated for a moment, his eyes lingering on yours for just a second, and then he nodded. "I think I can make her realise she should be with a guy like me," he murmured.

You really hadn't expected a knock on your bedroom window on prom night. Hell, everyone you knew was supposed to still be up at the school, dancing and drinking punch, right now. But there it was, a light tap that drew your attention away from the book you were reading to find Eddie on the other side of the glass.

"What on earth-" you cried out, hauling yourself off of the bed to tear the window open and tugging him inside by the lapel of his blazer. "I have a front door," you pressed on, ready to fully scald him for scaling the walls of your house until you noticed the frown on his lips. God, he looked distraught. "What's happened?"

He swallowed, his Adam's Apple bobbing slightly in his throat. "I asked her to dance with me," he breathed. "And she told me no," he pressed on, his tongue darting out to wet his bottom lip as he sniffled.

"Oh Ed-"

"They all laughed at me. She laughed at me."

You bit down on the inside of your cheek, your heart aching as you watched him, his eyes dropping to focus on his feet.

"I didn't know where else to go," he added softly, and within seconds you had pulled him into a hug, wrapping your arms around him as tightly as you could manage. "I'm pathetic," he breathed against your shoulder, pressing his face further into you as his arm lifted to wrap around your waist.

"You aren't pathetic, Ed," you corrected quietly. "You're incredible, and if she can't see that, then it's her loss, alright?"

He nodded against you, taking in a deep, shaking breath. "Can I stay here tonight?"

"You really think I'd ever say no to a sleepover?" you teased quietly. "I'll go raid the cupboards and see what snacks my mom got," you added softly, untangling yourself from him and offering up a small smile. "I know this sucks right now, but you're going to be okay," you reminded him, giving his hand a light squeeze before releasing him entirely.

It hadn't taken Eddie long after that to realise that he'd never really loved Chrissy. No. You on the other hand, he was totally head over heel devoted to. Perhaps, the only reason he'd ever even considered Chrissy was for her resemblance to you. Perhaps it was easier to go for the next best thing rather than risk ruining the friendship he had with you. Whatever it was, it definitely didn't matter anymore, because he had never been so in love with someone as he was with you.

And God, he loved to show it. He spent much of his time with his arm wrapped around your shoulder, walking you from class to class, practically preening when you'd kiss him before heading in for your next period.

When you weren't with him, he was practically intolerable; finding any excuse to bring you up in conversation, bragging about his smart, pretty, funny girlfriend to anyone who would stick around long enough to listen to him.

And he snuck in through your bedroom window for sleepovers most nights, curling up beside you like an oversized lapdog, making sure to always be making contact, as if he was worried you would disappear in the middle of the night if he didn't.

Yeah, Eddie was a pretty fantastic boyfriend and you couldn't help but think that Chrissy was missing out on being with someone absolutely wonderful.
