I am going to tell them the truth.

This was what I decided when I got out of my boss's home with trembling legs. No, I wasn't in shock anymore. My current state was all thanks to the stains I rubbed for hours and cuts I received by stepping on the minute pieces of the broken vase that were invisible to my naked eye. Every single time I thought that my work here was done, a new stain or a new piece of glass sprouted out of nowhere to let me know that I was far from being done.

I was barely managing to walk with these legs, but as if fate had decided to punish me today, I fell down on the hard ground as soon as I got out of the building.

Looking up at the sky, I asked with a tired sigh, "Are you that angry at me about the stupid lie?" before chuckling at my stupidity. Like anyone was going to answer me from above or even had the time to punish me for such a small act of misleading people.

Wait a minute! Alarm bells rang in my mind as soon as the thought crossed my mind. No, no, God wouldn't, but the law would definitely punish me for misleading everyone and becoming a barrier in the investigation.

It's not like I am the culprit then why should I fear.

This was it. The moment where I made the decision to speak up the truth. I fished out my wallet to take out the officer's card, but then realized that it was too late.

Tomorrow; I will tell them everything tomorrow.

"Have you forgotten about your rotten luck?" Ananya asked me sarcastically when I told her the entire story.

She was one of the night renters, who shared the house with me. Despite the decade long age difference, she was my only confidant in this world after my mother's death.

"Sshh, don't shout," I whispered, while pointing towards our sleeping roommates.

She rolled her eyes, before gesturing to me to come outside with her thumb. We walked and moved towards a close doctor's clinic as it had a few benches lying outside.

Despite being late, there were many people on the road, making the street look relatively safe.

"Seriously Muskaan, what have you done?" Ananya rubbed her forehead.

"I panicked, okay," I said defensively, before calming down a little and saying, "But I am going to inform them about the truth. That would be the very first thing I would do tomorrow."

"What if they find out about your lie before the night ends?" She asked, biting her lips. "You will land into great trouble then."

I narrowed my eyes at her for trying to scare me, before scoffing. "There's no way they can find out about the truth unless Rehaan wakes up or I tell them myself."

"Really?" Ananya looked at me raised eyebrows, before raining down her questions.

"Payment transactions?"

"Cash," I answered, swinging my legs a bit.

"His friends?"

"None, he is a lone wolf."

"Any relatives?"

"None. It was just his parents and him, and now they are dead."

"Any other workers?"

"Only a driver and he never visited the house."

"Neighbours?...no they think of you as his girlfriend," Ananya muttered, retracting her question.

"The agency!" She shouted suddenly in alarm. "What about the housekeeping agency?"

"Which one?" I questioned back, looking at her with a curious frown.
