Scaredy-cat
The doctor went inside while I just leaned on his room's door, not wishing to go inside and face that jerk. I was still angry and still embarrassed. However, seeing his pale face, tense shoulders and his wide scared eyes searching for me, I relented. Sighing, I walked towards his bed and silently stood beside him. His relieved sigh upon seeing me, made me feel like I made the right decision.
Pfft, he gets suspicious of me yet wants me near for a pesky check up.
"Everything seems alright. Just let the memories come naturally. Don't force yourself or you might end up hurting yourself." Telling this to Rehaan, the doctor motioned me to come aside to discuss more about his medicines and routine.
"If I am not wrong, then it was something you said that made him remember the scene from the past," the doctor enquired.
"Yeah."
"I believe it will be best to get him to his normal routine and usual surroundings. The familiarity might help him remember naturally." He suggested, before giving me the prescription of new medicines and telling me to meet the elderly nurse to learn how to properly take care of his wound.
After discussing all the queries and doubts with the doctor, I went back to the jerk, who was looking at me with guilty eyes.
"About earlier...I really didn't mean to—"
"Congratulations, you are getting discharged tomorrow," I said disinterestedly, cutting off his apology.
"Tomorrow?" He whispered, before lightly shaking his head like it was a matter of another time, and said, "Muskaan, can we please talk about what happened earlier?"
"Talk? Why?" I raised my eyebrows at him, "Tired of your silent treatment?"
He sighed, clearly irritated. "I am sorry, okay. I am really sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
"What? Suspect me?"
"No, you are still very much suspicious," he replied.
My mouth was left hung open at his audacity.
"I am sorry about joking about the things that felt like an attack on your character to you," he continued, looking genuinely sorry.
"Forget about it," I said, waving my hand a bit to dismiss the topic. I really didn't want to think about the hurt and embarrassment I went through.
"Really? You seemed pretty upset..."
"Please," I requested, seeing that he was in no mood to let go of that topic.
I guess he saw how embarrassed I was as he blinked his eyes reassuringly and nodded in agreement silently.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked, after a pause of a few seconds, making me groan.
"No, not about that," he clarified hurriedly.
"Then?"
"I don't want to keep assuming things. So can I ask you a few questions? Can you answer them honestly?"
"Will that make your suspicions go away?" I asked in return, looking at him hopefully.
He shrugged in response. He freaking shrugged and said nothing.
Jerk.
"Whatever. Just ask away," I said, trying to look unbothered, while I was freaking out inside.
"I don't have your number saved. Can I ask you why?" He said, waving his mobile at me.
"You deleted my number?" I questioned back. "Seriously! What a petty jerk!" I scoffed at him, before blabbering, "24 hours hadn't even passed since you fi—"
