Suspicious!

That's what Rehaan was. It didn't click to me before; I even shrugged it off when Ananya pointed out things to me last night.

"He helped you when you didn't have anywhere to go and now that you got your identification back, he suddenly fired you without any proper reason. Doesn't it seem suspicious?" Ananya had asked.

"Don't turn this into a serial. I am sure it was just a coincidence."

I had turned that idea down. But now that I was alone in the room with an unconscious Rehaan beside me, my mind started doing the work, it did the best: over-thinking.

~How did a fifteen year old Rehaan manage to get a flat in his own name?
Yeah, he looked a little older but these things didn't work on looks.

~How was he able to get admission in college for both of us when none of us had our documents?

~Why did he put up with me when I had no real skills apart from cooking?

~Was he really waiting for me to get all my papers back before firing me?

~Wait! He fired the driver too. On the same day. Was there some other reason why he fired both of his employees?

~And he got hurt the next day. Did he know someone was going to hurt him?

~The door wasn't broken in and I was the only one other than him who had the key. Did he open the door knowing someone was going to hurt him? Was that the reason he threw us out? So at least we would be safe.

~Or did he do that to himself? Was he depressed? Did he fire us as he wanted to wrap up everything before he attempted suicide?

~ Orrrr, Karma hit him badly. Fate punished him for being so cruel to the only faithful person beside him, aka me.

There were too many questions and the only person who could answer them was lying unconscious. Well, there was no guarantee that he would have answered them even when he was awake. He would have probably just ignored my presence if I even dared ask him even one of these questions.

However, there had been some times where he did respond to me. If luck is by my side, I might get some questions answered when he wakes up.

Luck wasn't on my side.

I wasn't going to get any of my questions answered and neither would the police.

After making sure everything was alright with Rehaan, I was about to call the police officer to ask them to meet me. To tell them the truth about who I really was or wasn't to Rehaan. But-

Surprise, surprise. Just like every other time, I couldn't.

This time it wasn't the over-excited aunty who didn't let me talk or the fear of becoming the prime suspect. It was Rehaan itself.

He woke up.

I stood in the sideline as the doctors fretted over him. Checking his vitals, asking him questions and what not.

Standing in the corner of the room, I couldn't get much of a glimpse of him, but one thing was clear from their talks, that his eyesight was okay. The relief that passed through me was shocking to be honest. I didn't know why I cared about his well being after being fired.

The police officers came too, hopeful to get some answers and finally close the case.

I didn't get to tell them the truth in time. 'But who cares!' I shrugged internally. The lie of me being his girlfriend was far small compared to the truth Rehaan was going to reveal about the incident.
