Burglar!!

As I entered the keys to my flat, I saw that the door was already unlocked.

Yes, my flat. A rented one, but still a huge change from my day-renter days.

Back to the current situation!

A gulp formed at the bottom of my throat, at the thought of someone having invaded my home.

I wasn't sure if I should go inside to protect my home or run away to protect my life.

'I should save my life savings,' was my first thought. It took a lot of effort to get here. I couldn't just let it go.

'What if the thief has a weapon?? Life savings mean nothing if you don't have a life.' My subconscious screamed at me.

I almost shuddered at the loudness of my own mind.

My subconscious is scary.

Listening to my own advice, I slowly and silently stepped back, before doing the only thing I did whenever I fell into trouble.

If Rehaan's name comes to your mind, then I am proud of you.

I immediately dialed his number, my eyes still on my half open door as I slowly backtracked.

I almost jumped, startled by the loud ringtone that came from the house. It took me a second to calm down from the scare, before I realized what happened.

Glancing twice between the ringing of the phone in my hand and the loud ringtone from inside, I stomped my way inside.

"Are you crazy?" I yelled, startling Rehaan who was about to pick up his phone.

"Ah! Shit! I almost dropped my phone," Rehaan yelled, looking at me with wide eyes and heaving chest, having just dived to save the phone from crashing down.

"And I almost called the cops on you," I counter-backed, now in a normal tone.

I threw away my office bag in the air, hoping it would land on the couch, before giving attention to the known burglar of my house.

"You really need to stop your habit of coming here unnoticed," I told him, while pouring myself a glass of water.

"And you should come around more," he said, looking at me wistfully.

"Aww, missed me?" I went to pull his cheeks, but ended up frowning and shrugging off my hands at his answer.

"Nah! Only your food."

That food loving idiot.

"Tiring day?" He asked as I plopped down on the couch, while also picking up my bag which had oh-so graciously fallen on the floor, before taking a seat beside me.

Oops.

"Don't ask, corporate life is harder than I thought," I grumbled.

"I can give you false hope that it gets better with time, but it really won't," he said cheekily.

I elbowed him.

"Ow!"

"Stop acting, I didn't even have the usual strength which isn't a lot anyways." I rolled my eyes at his acting.

He chuckled, before taking the same elbow and entwining his hands with me.

"Sorry, workload has increased and it's getting hard to juggle between everything," I apologized, knowing I wasn't giving him enough time.

We hadn't gone out for weeks, neither was I able to go to his house nowadays. And whenever he came here, I ended up sleeping halfway through our talks.

"Don't be sorry. I am okay with just sitting beside you. Don't think about overexerting yourself for my sake."
