Chapter 33

Luna Pov

Waking up to birds singing and the smell of the salty ocean will forever be embedded in my memory. The past two days on the private island was magical.

I got to know my family on a deeper level and they got to know me as well. Today is the last day on the island and I plan to make the best of it.

Just like most things I picked up swimming fast and now I can't stay out of the water. I know for sure I'll be using the pool back home now.

"Il mio bambino (my baby) come eat breakfast." I could hear my nonna call from outside the house.

"Comingg nonna." I say as I take one last look at myself in the mirror. I have to admit under the guidance of my strict family my health has improved greatly which in turn has made me look better.

I strut out in my cute pink swimsuit and white cover up and greeted with the pleasant smell of my nonnas cooking.

"Sit next to me cousin!" Carlo said scooting over so I could sit next to him.

"No! You guys have been hogging her ever since we got here." Andrea said scooting over so I could sit next to him.

Oh my god here they go again.

"Luna who do you want to sit next to?" They asked at the same time giving each other a death stare.

I make a b-line to sit next to my dad he's always a good choice if things get heated.

"Hahaha good choice dolcezza." My dad laughed putting a plate of food in front of me.

"You guys are with her all the time can't y'all share just a little?!" Rico whined.

"No." Marcello said without hesitation.

We all laughed when Rico's head went down like a scolded baby.

After breakfast we relaxed on the beach letting the food digest. I was eager to swim but I was told it's not a good idea to swim on a full belly. Who knew?

"Alright sorella let's hit the waves." Mattia said helping me up. I could see everyone else in the water including my nonna and nonno who said they wouldn't get in no matte what.

Seeing everyone splashing around made me spring up.

"No way! Nonno and Nonna are in the water too?! I said as Mattia held my hand making our way to the water.

"Yup! They knew you really wanted everyone to swim together and since it's the last day they granted your wish." He said smiling at me.

"Wow I'm so happy!" I said as my feet hit the water.

"Dolcezza! Come get here I'll hold you up so we can take a family picture." My dad said and I swam to him.

When I made it to him he picked me up putting me on his shoulders. That's when I saw the camera sat up on the beach.

Everyone gathered around in the water.

"On three everyone say Russo Family!" Uncle Angelo said.

We all yelled as the camera snapped my very first family photo.

Back on the plane I stared at the camera looking at the photo we took hours ago. Everyone I loved was in this one picture I would be sure to treasure it forever.
