The Country's Independence
Toblerone, Nutella, M&M's and so much more, Filipinos are so much fond with these products and they call themselves nationalistic while others claimed to be patriotic. We cannot obliterate this common mentality of the Filipinos, especially in this age, wherein every possible relation to other countries should have been connected to economics to provide progress in the motherland. Now in this scenario, is our country the Philippines an independent country? We rely a part our economic status into foreign investors in which our native brands and products are just simply a shadow of these goods. The issue about the territorial claims around the surrounding bodies of water of our country, we keep on depending to our allied countries to protect us even though we have our own armed forces to keep it safe and protected from the invaders. Also we, Filipinos depend always on the decision of the powerful country USA where we reached the point in which there are speculated articles and blogs that the country is wanting to be a part of the USA; currently giving polls to whether the people agrees or disagree about the proposal.
This country's independence cannot be really be called independence unless we start to patronize our own products and claiming our fellow countrymen to be a part of our success if they are more eligible to have succeeded in the other parts of the world. Being a pridist is a non-sense if you can't even exercise your own responsibility in the country.
The bottom line, does our country has a fully gained understanding about independence and its nature?
