Lawrence, Kansas
Arriving in our hometown we pull up outside of our old house as I stare at it with tears brimming my eyes "you guys gonna be all right?" Sam asked us as he sent glances our way "let me get back to you on that." Dean replied "same here." I muttered before opening the door getting out and making my way towards the front door knocking on it as a young blonde woman opens up looking at us in confusion."Yes?" She asked us "sorry to bother you, ma'am but we-." Dean said "I'm Sam Winchester. This is my brother, Dean, and our little sister Addison. We used to live here. Ya know, we were just driving by, and we were wondering if we could come see the old place." Sam said cutting in "Winchester. Yeah, that's so funny. Ya know, I think I found some of your photos the other night." She said with a smile on her face "you did?" I asked her "come on in. I'm Jenny, by the way." She said as we followed her into the kitchen.
"That's Richie. He's kind of a juice junkie. But, hey, at least he won't get scurvy. Sari, this Sam, Dean, and Addison. They used to live here." Jenny said introducing us to her daughter "hi." Sari mumbled quietly "hey, Sari." Sam said "so, you just moved in?" Dean asked her "yeah, from Wichita." She replied "you got family here, or..?" I asked her "no. I just, uh...needed a fresh start, that's all. So, new town, new job...I mean, as soon as I find one. New house." She said with a smile on her face.
"So, how you likin' it so far?" Sam asked her "well, uh, all due respect to your childhood home...I mean, I'm sure you had lots of happy memories here...but this place has it's issues." Jenny said nervously "what do you mean?" I asked her "well, it's getting old. Like the wiring, ya know? We've got flickering lights almost hourly." She replied "oh, that's too bad. What else?" Dean asked her "um...sinks backed up. There's rats in the basement...I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain." She said.
"No. Have you seen the rats, or have you just heard the scratching?" Dean asked her "it's just the scratching, actually." She replied "mom? Ask them if it was here when they lived here." Sari said "what, Sari?" I asked her "the thing in my closet." She said looking up at me "oh, no, baby, there was nothing in their closets. Right?" Jenny said looking at us "right. No, no, of course not." Sam replied "she had a nightmare the other night." Jenny said "I wasn't dreaming. It came into my bedroom...and it was on fire." Sari said making the three of us look at each other.
[.....]
"You hear that? A figure on fire." Sam said looking at us "and that woman, Jenny, that was the woman in your dreams?" Dean asked "yeah. And you hear what she was talking about? Scratching, flickering lights, both signs of a malevolent spirit." Sam said stopping in his tracks to look at us "yeah, well, I'm just freaked-out that your weirdo visions are comin' true." I said sending a glance his way."Well, forget about that for a minute. The thing in the house, do you think it's the thing that killed Mom and Jessica?" Sam asked us in a panicked voice "I don't know!" Dean yelled "well, I mean, has it come back, or has it been here the whole time?" Sam asked "or maybe it's something else entirely, Sam, we don't know yet." Dean frustratingly replied "well, those people are in danger, Dean. We have to get them out of that house." Sam said pointing up to the house "and we will." I replied looking up at him "no, I mean now." Sam urgently said.
"And how you gonna do that, huh? You got a story that she's gonna believe?" Dean asked him as we all got back in the car "then what are we supposed to do?" Sam asked out loud.
