The next morning arrives as I wake up to dad waking up Sam and Dean "Sam, Dean, let's go." Dad commanded "mm-hmm." Dean mumbled sitting up quickly but sleepily "I picked up a police call." Dad said, putting his jacket on "what happened?" Sam asked "a couple called 9-1-1...found a body in the street. Cops got there. Everyone was missing. It's the vampires." Dad explained "how do you know?" Sam asked him "just follow me, okay?" Dad asked as he opened the door "can I come?" I asked Dad with puppy dog eyes as he sighed and looked down for a moment, thinking "all right, but you have to stay in the car." He said walking out.

[......]
Arriving at the crime scene the three of stand by the car waiting for our dad to finish talking to someone " I don't see why we couldn't have gone over with him." Sam sulked as I groaned, knowing that Sam and Dad could only be around each other for a short time without fighting "oh, don't tell me it's already starting." Dean said "what's starting?" Sam snapped as Dean turned his attention to Dad as he walked up "what have you got?" Dean asked him "it was them all right. Looks like they're heading west. We'll have to double back to get around that detour." Dad said "how can you be so sure?" Sam asked him.

"Sam.."Dean warned "I just wanna know we're going in the right direction." Sam said sharply "we are." Dad said "how do you know?" Sam asked as Dad handed something to Dean "I found this." He said "it's a- a vampire fang." Dean said as he analyzed it "not fangs, teeth. The second set descends when they attack. Any more questions?" Dad said "all right let's get out of here, we're losing daylight." Dad said, walking past us to his truck "hey, Dean, why don't you touch up your car before you get rust? I wouldn't have given you the damn thing if I thought you were going to ruin it?" Dad said "hey, that's what I told him." I smirked at Dean.

"Well, at least one of you listens to me." Dad said as he climbed into his truck Dean snapped a look at me "really?" He snapped "you know I love you." I said as I got into the car.

[......]
Sam drove the Impala, following Dad in his truck as Dean read Elkin's journal "vampires nest in groups of eight to ten. Smaller packs are sent to hunt for food. Victims are taken to the nest where the pack keeps them alive, bleeding them for days or weeks. I wonder if that's what happened to that 9-1-1 couple." Dean said "that's probably what Dad's thinking. Course it would be nice if he just told us what he thinks." Sam grumbled "so, it is starting." Dean grumbled "what?" Sam snapped "ya know, that thing you do when you're around Dad for more than ten minutes?" I asked sarcastically as Sam looked at me in the rear-view mirror, irritated.

"Sam, we've been looking for Dad all year. Now we're not with him for more than a couple of hours, and there's static already?" Dean said "no. Look, I'm happy he's okay, all right? And I'm happy that we're all working together again." Sam said "well, good." Dean said "it's just the way he treats us like we're children." Sam said, not able to control himself as I groaned and shook my head, putting my head in my hands "oh, god." Dean muttered "he barks orders at us, he expects us to follow'em without question. He keeps us on some crap need-to-know deal." Sam said.

"He does what he does for a reason." Dean said "what reason?" Sam snapped "our job! There's no time to argue, there's no margin for error, all right? That's just the way the old man runs things." Dean said "yeah, well, maybe that worked when we were kids, but not anymore, all right. Not after everything we've been through, Dean. I mean, are you telling me you're cool with just falling into line, and letting him run the whole show?" Sam asked "if that's what it takes." Dean said as Sam shook his head and tightened his jaw.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

"Yeah, Dad?" (...) "all right, got it." Dean said as he hung up "pull off at the next exit." "Why?" Sam snarled "cause Dad thinks we've got the vampire's trail" Dean said "how?" Sam said, becoming angrier "I don't know; he didn't say." Dean replied as Sam suddenly gunned it and sped around Dad's truck slamming on his breaks causing the Impala to swerve sideways in front of the truck as both Sam and Dad stopped their cars and got out.

"Oh, crap. Here we go. Sam!" Dean yelled as Sam and Dad were now in each other's faces, staring at each other angrily, I decided to just watch from the back seat of the Impala "Sam!" Dean yelled as he ran around the car "what the hell was that." Dad said, angrily "we need to talk." Sam snapped "about what?" Dad asked "about everything. Where are we going, Dad? What's the big deal about this gun?" Sam asked him "Sammy, come on, we can Q and A after we kill all the vampires." Dean said trying to ease the tension.

"Your brother's right, we don't have time for this." Dad said "last time we saw you, you said it was too dangerous for us to be together. Now out of the blue, you need our help. Now obviously something big is going down, and we wanna know what!" Sam said raising his voice "get back in the car." Dad said pointing to the Impala "no." Sam said firmly "I said get back in the damn car!" Dad raised his voice "yeah. And I said no." Sam said as Dean took a step closer "okay, you made your point tough guy. Look we're all tired. We can talk about this later. Sammy, I mean it, come on." Dean said as he put his hand on Sam's shoulder and pushed him back to the car while Dad turned back to his truck.

"This is why I left in the first place." Sam grumbled as Dad swung back around "what'd you say?" Dad asked him "you heard me!" Sam yelled "yeah. You left. Your brother, your sister, and me, we needed you. You walked away, Sam." Dad said
"Sam-." Dean said "you walked away!" Dad yelled in Sam's face "you're the one who said don't come back, Dad. You closed that door, not me. You were just pissed-off that you couldn't control me anymore!" Sam shouted as Sam and Dad took a step forward, grabbing each other's shirts.

"Stop it, both of you! Listen, stop it, stop it. Stop it! That's enough!" Dean yelled as he pulled them apart while Dad stepped back and stared over Dean's head at Sam as Dean looked at Dad "that means you too." Dean said while Sam got back into the Impala, and Dad turned back to his truck as Dean stood there for a moment "terrific." He sighed as he walked back to the car looking up making eye contact with Sam in the rear-view mirror and looking away as I rolled my eyes.

"What?" Sam snapped "you aren't starting it with me, Sam. I don't get you sometimes. We're with Dad for less than a day, and you can't get over yourself? What is that?" I asked him "you don't get it." Sam said as he shook his head angrily "no! You're right, I don't. I love you, but oh my god, you are so annoying when it comes to Dad. You say you don't want him to treat you like a child? Well, then stop acting like one!" I yelled as he stared at me stunned.
