As Dean parked the Impala in front of Evan
Hudson's, and we made our way up to the front door. Sam knocked, and we waited. A man opened the door, shaking "yes?" He asked "Evan Hudson?" Sam asked him "you ever been to a bar called Lloyd's? Would have been about ten years ago." Dean asked him as Evan stared at us wide-eyed and then slammed and locked the door "come on, we're not demons!" Dean yelled "any other bright ideas?" Sam asked him as Dean stepped back and then kicked the door open in one go. We ran into the house and followed noises down a hallway. We stood outside of a room with double doors. We could hear someone shuffling around inside the room.

Dean picked up his leg to kick the door in, but Sam quickly stopped him. Then he turned the handle and pushed the door open gently. He snapped Dean a look before we walked in. As we walked in, we couldn't see anyone in sight "Evan?" Sam asked making Evan jump out from behind a bookshelf "please don't hurt me." Evan whimpered as Sam held his hands up "we're not going to hurt you, all right? We're here to help you." Sam said "we know all about the genius deal you made." Dean said "what? How?" Evan asked him "doesn't matter. All that matters is, we're trying to stop it." Sam said "how do I know you're not lying?" Evan asked.

"Well, you don't, but you're kinda running low on options there, buddy-boy." Dean said "can you stop it?" Evan asked "don't know. We'll try." Sam shrugged "I don't want to die." Evan pleaded "of course, you don't, not now." Dean scoffed "Dean.
Stop." Sam snapped "what'd you ask for anyway, Evan? Huh? Never need Viagra? Bowl a perfect game? What?" Dean asked "my wife." Evan replied "right. Gettin' the girl. Well, that's worth a trip to Hell for." Dean scoffed as I tugged on Dean's jacket, trying to tell him to stop "Dean, stop." Sam said once again.

"No. He's right. I made the deal. Nobody twisted my arm, that...woman, or whatever she was, at the bar? She said I could have anything I wanted. I thought she was nuts at first, but...I don't know how to...I was desperate." Evan said "desperate?" Sam questioned "Julie was dying." Evan sighed "you did it to save her?" Dean asked him "she had cancer, they'd stopped treatment, they were moving her into hospice, they kept saying...a matter of days. So yeah, I made the deal. And I'd do it again. I'd have died for her on the spot." Evan said.

"Did you ever think about her in all this?" Dean asked him "I did this for her." Evan snapped "you sure about that? I think you did it for yourself. So, you wouldn't have to live without her. But guess what? She's going to have to live without you now. But what if she knew how much it cost?
What if she knew it cost your soul? How do you think she'd feel?" Dean snapped as he stepped closer to him with his clenched fists. I knew exactly what was upsetting Dean. We had all been thinking the same thing about Dad, even though none of us had really admitted it.

"Okay, that's enough. You just sit tight, all right? We're going to figure this out." Sam said as he placed his hand on Dean's shoulder as Dean pushed Sam's hand away and rushed out to the hallway while Sam and I followed "you all right?" Sam asked him "yeah, why wouldn't I be? Hey, I got an idea. You throw George's hoodoo at that hellhound. You two keep it away from Evan as long as you can. I'm gonna go to the crossroads and summon the demon." Dean said "summon...are you nuts?" Sam asked him "maybe a little. But I can trap it. I can exorcise it, and I can buy us time to figure out something more permanent." Dean said while nodding.

"Yeah, but how much time?" Sam asked "I don't know, a while. I mean, it's not easy for those suckers to claw their way back from Hell and into the sunshine." Dean replied "no. No way." Sam said "you're not allowed to say no, Sammy, not unless you've got a better idea." Dean said "Dean, you can forget it, all right? I'm not letting you summon that demon." Sam replied as he shook his head "why not?" Dean asked him "because I don't like where your head is at right now, that's why." Sam said as Dean furrowed his brow "what are you talking about?" Dean asked "ya know, you've been on edge ever since we found that crossroads, Dean, and I think I know why." Sam said.

"We don't have time for this." Dean sighed as he brushed past Sam but was stopped by a single word "Dad." Sam mumbled making Dean turned to face us "you think maybe Dad made one of these deals, huh? Hell. I've been thinking it. I'm sure we all have." Sam said "it fits, doesn't it? I'm alive. Dad's dead. The yellow-eyed-demon was involved. What if he did? What if he struck a deal? My life for his soul?" Dean said "I think I hear it! It's outside!" Evan shouted from the room "just keep him alive, okay?" Dean asked and then ran for the front door "Dean!" Sam called after him "don't do anything stupid!" I yelled "go!" Dean shouted back at us.

While Sam and I ran back into the room, closing the door behind us. Sam poured half of the goofer dust in a cup, and we both started lining it in front of doors and windows. Sam walked over and started pouring the goofer dust in a circle around Evan "what is that stuff?" Evan asked him "goofer dust." Sam said "you serious?" Evan asked "yeah. 'Fraid so. Look. Believe me, don't believe me, whatever you want. Just whatever you do, stay inside the circle, all right?" Sam instructed as Evan nodded and hugged himself in the middle of the circle. Sam finished the circle, just as the bag emptied "that's the last of it." Sam muttered as Evan suddenly whirled around, looking completely terrified.

"What?" Sam asked "you hear that?" Evan asked looking at Sam and me as I shook my head "no, where?" Sam asked him "right outside the door." Evan said as the door began to rattle violently while Sam stepped inside the circle "Addison, in the circle, now." Sam said as I did as he instructed. The door continued to rattle violently. I took a step closer to Sam and wrapped my arm around his "just don't move, all right? Stay where you are." Sam instructed as the rattling started getting louder, more violent, then stopped suddenly "do you still hear it?" Sam asked Evan "no. Is it over?" Evan asked him as a rumbling sound started coming from a grate on the wall. We all turned to stare at it; the grate burst off of the wall, kicking dust into the room.

"It's here!" Evan yelled as he tried to run out of the circle, but Sam grabbed him "no! Back inside the circle!" Sam shouted as deep claw marks gouged into the floor in a path toward the circle; they stopped just before the edge. Then wind started swirling, blowing papers around, flipping through book pages, and blowing away some of the circle "circle's broken. Come on!" Sam yelled as he grabbed Evan and me, pushing us toward the door. The three of us ran out of the room and down the hallway. We ran into a laundry room at the end of the hall and slammed the door behind us. Sam leaned up against it as the hellhound pounded on it. Then suddenly, everything stopped. We all looked around, panting.

Once we reconnected with Dean, we hit the road. He explained that he forced the demon to free Evan of his contract, or he would leave her trapped forever, but he was acting weird "ya know, that demon told me that Dad did make that deal with the yellow-eyed-demon to save me. She said I could make a deal to bring him back. I'd get ten years, Dad would live a long life, and she would get my soul." Dean sighed "you didn't do that, did you?" Sam asked quickly "no." Dean replied as he shook his head "demons lie all the time, right? Maybe she was lying." Sam said "come on. That really what you think?" Dean asked as Sam looked down.

"How could he do it?" Dean asked "he did it for you." Sam said "exactly. How am I supposed to live with that? Ya know, the thought of him...wherever he is right now. I mean, he spent his whole life chasing that...yellow-eyed son of a bitch. He should have gone out fighting. That was supposed to be his legacy. Ya know? Not bargaining with the damn thing. Not this." Dean said "how many people do you think Dad saved?
Total?" Sam asked "that's not the point, Sam." Dean sighed "Evan Hudson is safe because of what Dad taught us. That's his legacy, Dean. But we're still here, man. So, we gotta keep going for him." Sam said "Dean?" I asked "yeah?" He asked, looking in the rear-view mirror.

"When you trapped that demon, you didn't...I mean, you-you never considered actually making that deal, right?" I worriedly asked him as Dean flicked his eyes from me to the road and then just stared ahead. Then he reached forward and turned the radio up without saying anything while Sam and I glanced at each other but stayed silent.
