// hope you like the new front cover of the story ♥️ //

Hope unexpectedly woke up early in the morning with a piercing pain in her head and spotted a nurse checking her serum and reducing the dose of painkiller she was recieving as of last night.

"Awe, no more of that good stuff?"

"Unfortunately not, Miss Mikaelson. That stuff is addictive and a young woman your age doesn't really need that much of a dosage. Plus you're scheduled for another MRI in a few hours so we need you to tell us realistically how much pain you're feeling."

"Okay, back to hell I guess. How much time until the scan?"

"Two hours. By the way, visitors are not allowed to stay over night in the hospital."

"I know, she wouldn't leave my side. Take it on with her."

"Whatever, I will leave this one slide..by the way, you look cute together."

"Oh, no..she's not my girlfriend."

The nurse rolled her eyes with a smile and then left the room, leaving the two enjoy their last hours together. Hope turned to her side and watched how Josie slept peacefully, she decided to caress her cheek and it felt truly soft under her fingertips. She almost wished she could wake up to that every single day.

"You're my weak spot, Josette.."

"Mhm, what..."

Josie slowly regained her senses once she heard Hope's voice speaking to her, slowly opening her eyes to the bright sunlight coming through the hospital blinds. Her eyes quickly found Hope starring at her and caressing her face, which felt strangely nice.

"Hey, you're up early.."

"Yeah, they reduced my dose of painkillers which means party's over."

"That and the sugar rush I probably gave you must have given you a hell of a trip last night."

"It was nice while it lasted. Hey, did you get any decent sleep?"

"Don't worry about me, Hope. I'll sleep properly once I get home. Although, falling asleep next to you was nice."

"Likewise. By the way, I'm having another scan in a while, not really a fan if you ask me."

"You're seriously scared of an MRI?"

"Yeah, I know the great Mikaelson isn't scared of anything but..this."

"It's okay, I'll go in the room with you if they let me. I can even hold your hand.."

Josie smiled sweetly and Hope found herself feeling comforted by the girl's words. She enjoyed the way Josie showed her affection and wondered whether that was just a selfless act of kindness or it was an attempt to showcase her feelings for her.

After about two hours the nurses prepped Hope for the scan and Josie followed, actually holding her hand until she was made to lie under the big scanner and inserted inside the machine. The scan reassured the doctors that Hope had no internal bleeding and therefore she was free to go home so she was discharged in a few hours. Alaric picked the girls up and dropped Josie to school but had to drive Hope back to her house to rest for another day.

"Happy to be home?"

"Ric, it's best to stay away from questions like that you know."

"Oh, come on. You have no idea how much your mother loves you and wishes she could be stronger for you. You're her strength, Hope."
