"Hope, I love you."

The Mikaelson looked up at brunette's wet eyes, she hadn't figured she was crying or had any freaking idea how to respond back to that. Tough. She remembered her confession a few months ago and how vulnerable she was, but this time the circumstances were different. It was as if something inside her was hindering her from getting attached again, and reciprocating any romantic feelings the brunette had for her. Most of all, the word love seemed to scare her away now more than ever, and there was no way she could let that into her life again and risking hurting Josie.

"Sorry I have to go. Your father will probably wonder where I am."

"Hope you don't have to go.."

"I can't stay either."

Hope got out of bed and started dressing herself in a rush, wishing the brunette wouldn't try anything to convince her to stay. However, Josie seemed to respect Hope's wish and let her walk away from this.

Alaric had just now gotten out of the basement, luckily all the moaning from both bedroom's had slipped his attention saving him from the second hand embarrassment. He saw Hope coming down the stairs in a rush and wondered where she had been.

"Couldn't manage to get that thing working too damn rusty and old. Candles will have to do for now."

"It's fine.."

"Hope, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Just cold because of this shitty weather can we get the fireplace going please?"

"Sure that sounds nice actually, come help me fetch some wood from outside."

Alaric and Hope headed to the front porch and both gathered pieces of wood in their arms and walked back inside and towards the big fireplace.

"You look like you settled down after that maths lesson. Maybe all you needed was a break after all."

"Yeah, your daughter made sure to help with that–" the words slipped right off Hope's mouth.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Uh, nothing.." the Mikaelson laughed shyly.

"Sure, Hope."

"So when are you planning to drop the Caroline bomb to Lizzie?"

"So when are you planning to drop the Caroline bomb to Lizzie?"

"Smooth change of subject, young lady. Maybe tonight, after you all go home. It'll give us a good chance to talk about it and hopefully Josie will be able to salvage the drama from Elizabeth's reaction."
