"Hey, dad. I am finished with all my homework and one of my friends has asked me out on a little date can I perhaps go? I know it's Sunday and all but-"
"You know how much I'd love to say yes but let's not make a habit out of this you've already been out once this weekend and it's better to stay in and have an early night tonight."
"But dad, I really want to see her.."
"Then why don't you invite her here for dinner? I'll make something nice for you all and perhaps you can help me and she will definitely be impressed by your cooking skills if not then you can blame your father."
"Uhh, that's not exactly an ideal date but it could work, let me just check if she's up for it and I'll let you know."
A few minutes later a joyful Josie climbed down the stairs and hugged her father's waistline from behind.
"You're meeting Jade, my date."
"Oh, cool. I'm sure she will be amazed by how good of a cook your father is. In fact, I am going to start the food now in case she comes early."
"Don't stress over it dad, we don't mind waiting. Plus Jade is an old family friend, her parents used to bring her over when we were eight and you probably won't recognize her now but she will remember you."
"Ohh, that Jade. I remember, now. You and her played nicely together."
"And now they are doing much more than just playing with each other, dad." Lizzie butted in the conversation.
"Thanks, Elizabeth but you don't need to remind me how you both have active sexual lives now."
Suddenly the doorbell rang and Josie ran towards the door, surprised that the girl she had been waiting for showed up that fast but when she opened the door her smile disappeared immediately.

"You know if you wanted to see me, you could have at least asked first."
"I'm not here to see you, Josette. I simply forgot some textbooks in your dad's office that I need to pick up."
"Make it fast then. I'm expecting company."
"Oh?" Josie moved out of the way as Hope made her way into the office and Alaric poked his head out of the kitchen to the sound of the familiar voice.
"Is that Hope? What is she doing here?"
"Nothing, just leaving."
"I've got what I needed, by the way it smells really nice, someone's working his magic."
"Hope- I was actually just making dinner, is your cousin with you? Why not stop for a quick bite?"
