Hope has a complex childhood, and while growing up her life revolved around meaningless sexual encounters and always getting herself in trouble. After spending a heated summer in Mystic Falls camp it's time to return to school, where she ends up bei...
"Things did change between us. It changed the moment you told me you love me."
"Then why are you making it so complicated?"
"It's not me who's making it complicated."
"Is it better when the blame is on someone else?"
"We both have our own battles to fight, you know that as well as I do."
"But the thing is Hope, you're never looking for a reason to stay. You're always looking for an excuse to go. And I've had enough of it.."
"Right because I don't want to be somewhere where I'm not actually wanted. And I really don't care how that makes me look."
"You are wanted, Hope."
"I thought I had convinced you how much being me actually sucks.."
"No, it's actually kinda beautiful.." Josie took a long breath and continued..
"I know you've spent your life running, and it's sad really. But for once, I want someone someone to love me enough to stay and fight. Even if it's a lost cause. Because I am worth that."
Josie's eyes dropped on the bed, where their hands were still tangled together as if they both needed each other's physical touch, as if both were looking for every reason to fight for this and finally Hope broke the long silence.
"You've never been a lost cause. And I'm sorry if I made you feel like you were the last couple of days. I was so affected by my own problems that that I've hurt several of my beloved ones without even realising."
"I'm seeing Jade at the charity event tomorrow. I think this is it, Hope. I'm breaking up with her. I want to give us another chance."
Hope's features melted into the softest smile, it was finally as if she was getting her consciousness back thanks to Josie. There was another shift inside her where she finally stopped wishing to hurt herself further, and instead Josie ignited a spark, such deep one that Hope's devotion laid in only one direction now: to protect and love the girl in front of her more than her own life.
Josie could sense the change inside the Mikaelson, even though she didn't use her words their connection was so deeply established that she knew she got her back, and finally decided to end this conversation by giving her the tightest hug, one that could possibly help glue back all of Hope's shattered pieces.

The next day, on Sunday, the usual Mystical falls charity fair was taking place right in the heart of the city, and people gathered from all different areas to attend and help boost the town's economy like they did every year.

The Mikaelson's arrived early having borrowed Hayley's truck, as both of them used to always help around set up the stalls and the different games ever since they were young. Hope vividly remembers her dad driving her and her siblings in the town a day before, and staying over at a motel, spending their time organising the resources and helping to build and set up the different stalls selling local produce. Her favourite day was Sunday when she got to participate in the event and she always antagonized her siblings in the carnival games until they ended up fighting for stuffed animals and the prizes in the end.
