Note To Dragon Self

The next two days Natsu didn't talk to Lucy. He was beyond angry at her for tickling him and held a grudge at her. Even when their lesson was during one of the days he chose to ignore her, Natsu did everything she asked for but didn't talk not once to her. Lucy didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing since, without him wanting to talk to her, he finished all his work super quick and was done for the day.
Lucy held a grudge at him too, for not talking to her. It wasn't as bad as Natsu's though, she should have been mad at him for a lot of reasons like ruining her tea party or hurting her, but Lucy wasn't one to hold grudges. Barely an hour later of hating the boy she forgave him, but Natsu didn't seem to forgive her. What hurt the most to Lucy was at night when it was time to sleep. She had been so used to Natsu being there by her side, sleeping with her and protecting her from the world around them. She cried when Natsu decided to sleep away from them.
She quickly changed the cry to laughter remembering that dragons didn't cry then quickly fell asleep after under her Father's claw with tear stained eyes. Natsu felt bad that night, but he didn't waver. He was mad! Angry, beyond fired up! How dare she make fun of him like she did! How dare she beat him like she had! HOW DARE SHE TICKLE HIM!
It was day three in the Dragneel feud and to tell the truth Igneel was getting tired of it. His son was over aggressive while his daughter was just this sad, poor looking creature. She'd go sulk under a tree or behind a rock while his son would try and start a fight with him every second of the day, and if not with him, then with the forest. Igneel had enough with this feud, but never had children before and didn't know how to solve it. Something had to be done though so that night, before the third day, Igneel vanished.
The two Dragneel's woke up that day parentless.
"Papa? Papa?! PAPA!" Little Lucy screamed at the top of her lungs
She ran all the way around the clearing, searching for her Father everywhere. She didn't see him anywhere though. She was alone, left alone by herself. Tears threatened to fall but Lucy stayed strong and walked back to the spot where she first woke up, where her Papa's figure was imprinted in the grass. She laid there and curled up into a tight ball, staring aimlessly into the forest.
Natsu watched her through all of this, silently. He was waiting, waiting for her to break out in tears... but she never did. Maybe she was finally getting used to being a dragon he thought then looked around. He didn't see his Father anywhere, just like the girl, and wondered what on Earthland was going on. This was strange, even for Ingeel, for him to leave without telling them.
It had never happened before to Natsu, but he didn't worry. His Father was bound to come back, that was just the type of dragon he was, so until then Natsu had to fend for himself. His stomach started growling so he got up and started walking into the forest, leaving his teacher behind.
"Where are you going?"
Natsu ignored this and kept going though all he wanted to do was go back and comfort her. What the hell was wrong with him? Natsu didn't even remember why he was so mad at her in the first place, but did know he was mad so he shouldn't forgive her. When Lucy lost sight of Natsu in the forest she curled up into a tighter ball and squeezed her eyes closed.
Honestly, Natsu didn't know what he was doing anymore. He found a berry bush on his walk through the forest, and remembering Igneel words about which berries are poisonous and which are eatable, he deemed them as eatable and started eating. Three bushes later he was full... and then wondered what his teacher was going to eat.
Nothing was the first answer that popped into his mind. Natsu squeezed his fist into a tight ball and growled, was he still mad at her? Yes. He started stomping deeper into the forest and wound up at the lake. Maybe he needed to cool off for a bit, it was rather a hot day out Natsu thought before jumping into the lake fully clothed.
When he resurfaced, though he didn't know why, he was expecting to hear some light laughter and a little girl smiling at him. When he looked over at the edge though he saw nothing, he was alone. Natsu started heating up, causing bubbles to surface around him, and dove back underwater. Was he still mad at her? He didn't quite know.
After his bath he continued his stroll through the forest, finding more food to eat and perfect trees to pee on or mark up. He had to be gone for about a good five hours, returning to his home subconsciously in the afternoon. When he got there he saw her in the same spot, curled up in the same little ball. Was he still mad at her? Hell yes. Extremely, but not for the reason you think.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Natsu yelled.
It was upon deaf ears though because Little Lucy was asleep. Natsu was irritated when he was ignored and stomped over to the girl, leaving a trail of fire steps behind him. When he reached her though, his flames vanished when he saw her closed eyes. For a second, Natsu had forgotten about everything after seeing her resting face.
He stared at her and wondered why he ever had gotten mad at her in the first place? Little Lucy woke up half an hour later to the sight of red apples stacked up into a pile in front of her. She leaned up and rubbed her eyes, yawning to herself before her stomach growled in hunger forcing her to scarf one down. After her first apple her stomach calmed down making Lucy more levelheaded to wonder how these apples even got here in the first place.
She looked around, but didn't have to look far when she saw her student curled up into a ball next to her. She squeaked at first, scooting away a bit, but noticed he was unmoving. She peeked over his should to get a look at his face and saw his eyes were closed, he was sleeping. Lucy smiled softly and ate her apples in quiet, once done she curled up next to Natsu again and whispered.
"Thank you."
Igneel came home to the sight of his children curled up together and smiled. Note to Dragon self, next time children are ignoring each other or fighting, take off and leave them alone to sort things out by themselves. Igneel nodded at his inner thoughts as he leaned over to get a closer look at his kids, he noticed multiple apple cores near Lucy and berry juice all over Natsu's mouth and paled.
New note to dragon self, next time you leave for a long period of time to let them sort things out by themselves, leave food or else risk starvation and berry poisoning.
