Dragon's Tears

.

Little Lucy was six years, thirty-one weeks, two days and four minutes old when she snuck away from her Papa's protective claws. It was rather easily escaping, her family were very heavy sleepers. The most difficult part she had to say was crawling free from her Papa's claw without touching Natsu in the process. She's never noticed it before, but they actually slept really close together.

No wonder Lucy's never felt cold before.

Running her toes through the grass, Lucy looked around her and noticed their happy little home was a whole different playground at night. She took a step towards the forest trees and flinched a little, feeling the dirt squish underneath her toes. At night Lucy could hear everything, the wind, the trees, the animals, even the dirt as her toes walked above them.

She looked around the forest for her exit and found it, slowly at first she walked towards it. Lucy stood at the border line between home and the wild. With one last look at her family's sleeping figures, Lucy ventured into the dark forest and made her way through it. She's been living with the Dragneel's in this forest for a while now, but not once did her Papa tell her not to venture into the forest alone, especially at dark. It should have been fairly obvious though that she shouldn't.

Lucy wasn't scared though, she knew where she was going. Though darkness had covered the world the moon still provided some light, enough light to see the markings she had left on certain trees. Lucy walked over to one of the markings and laid her hand on it, brushing a finger against the cut mark in the tree. She closed her eyes and remembered when she first drew it there.

"Come on Lucy, what are you doing?" Young Natsu asked.

He held his hands behind his head and glared at his teacher. They were suppose to be heading to the lake with their father to go fishing for dinner. Natsu was starving and here Lucy was stopping every few seconds.

"I'm making a mark on the trees... see?" Little Lucy asked taking a step back to show her student.

Natsu scrunched his eyes, but couldn't really tell what the marking was so he walked up closer. There was two squiggly lines, one right on top of each other.

"It's supposed to be the mark of the Aquarius, my Mother taught me about it." Lucy told him.

Natsu ignored her though and asked, "what's the point?"

"It's so I won't get lost, just in case you run off and leave me or if I'm trying to get to the lake by myself. This mark here will show me the way, did you know the Aquarius is supposed to be a mermaid that lives in water? It fits perfectly as the mark to head to the lake doesn't it?" Lucy giggled.

Natsu looked strangely at her, he noticed she was holding something. It looked like a sharp, pointy rock covered in blood. Natsu walked over to Lucy and took the rock from her hands, just taking it from her though make him get cut by it.

"Ouch, that rock cut me." Natsu glared staring at the prick on his finger.

"That's because it's really sharp, it got me a couple of times too." Lucy pouted looking at her bleeding hand.
