Dragon's Flight

.

The next day... it was still raining. Natsu was sulking at the back of the cave, drawing circles in the dirt while Lucy and Igneel enjoyed breakfast. He was mumbling to himself, the words "my awesomeness" echoing over and over again in their cave. Lucy found this funny and giggled while Igneel looked back at his son with worry.

"Is he alright?" He asked.

"Yeah Papa, he's just mad that it's still raining because he told me it was going to be quadruple sunny today." Lucy explained.

"Oh... hey Natsu!" Igneel called out.

He heard his son moan.

"Get over here."

Natsu sighed and stood up, dragging his feet as he made his way over to his family. He came into the light and nodded towards his Father, his eyes never leaving the ground. Igneel shook his head lightly at his son before looking over at Lucy, seeing Lucy finishing up her fish.

"Are you done Lucy?" Igneel asked.

"Yes, thanks for the meal Papa." Lucy smiled.

"Good, now come on you two. We're going out." Igneel said grabbing Lucy and Natsu, with his claw and tail.

"But Papa! It's raining!" Lucy squealed when Igneel placed her on his back.

Natsu didn't care as he was tossed onto his back, but finally came alive when he felt Lucy hold onto him. She would always do that when Igneel took off flying, scared to fall off. Igneel walked out of the cave and stretched out his wings, flapping them as he flew high into the sky. Lucy squealed as she got soaked from the rain.

"Papa! What are we doing?!" Lucy screamed.

"Natsu my son! You promised my daughter the sun right?" Igneel asked.

Natsu blinked, "yeah! But my awesomeness didn't work."

"Look again my son." Igneel said as he started flying over the clouds, away from them towards the mountain.

Natsu and Lucy looked up at the sky and watched as the rainclouds went away and the sun came into view. She smiled feeling the warm sun's rays on her skin and held her arms wide open, enjoying the warmth.

"You did it Natsu! Your awesomeness worked!" Lucy cheered.

Natsu smiled, rubbing his nose as he stuck his chest out. "Of course it would, I was only tricking you before."

"That wasn't a nice trick." Lucy pouted before standing up.

The wind ruffled her hair and dress as she started walking over to her Father's head, grabbing onto one of his horns and squeezing it tightly. Natsu was right behind her, grabbing Igneel's other horn.

"What are you two planning?" Igneel asked.

"Fly closer to the mountain Papa." Lucy said.

Igneel chuckled and started circling around the mountain, getting closer and closer.

"Look Natsu! It's snow!" Lucy pointed out.

"Cool." Natsu said.

Lucy felt as if she reached out, she could touch the mountaintop, but didn't because she thought she'd lose her grip and fall off. Natsu on the other hand didn't care and spun his legs around Igneel's horn as he leaned over and tried to touch the mountain.
