Lucy turned a page in her book.

"7, 8, 9, 10, 11..."

She listened and read.

"29, 30, 31, 32, 33..."

Chapter 8, Dangers Ahead. What dangers Lucy wondered as she turned the page.

"51, 52, 53, 54..."

This book Igneel had picked for her wasn't that bad actually. Sure the beginning was boring, but Lucy was beginning to like it.

"84, 85, 86, 87..."

She wondered if there was a sequel to this book, she hoped there was. It was too good to end.

"98, 99, 100!" Natsu yelled in the background.

"Good, now count backwards from 100." Lucy said turning the page.

"WHAT?! I JUST COUNTED TO A HUNDRED THOUGH! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG THAT TOOK?!"

"100 seconds."

"..."

"..."

"I HATE YOU LUCY!" Natsu yelled stomping away.

Lucy sighed turning the page again.

"Don't hate me Natsu."

"Too late, you're hated."

"Oh, please don't, I can't live if you hate me." Lucy said in a monotone voice.

She was completely used to living with her student and Papa now after so many months. Her old life seemed like the dream now, this life the reality.

"Well... since you're begging so much..."

"I can't live if you hate me, I can't go on. Oh please love me Natsu." Lucy continued to say, as if she was reciting some lines.

"Fine, I don't hate you anymore."

"Please Natsu, don't hate me. Don't hate me."

Natsu turned around and saw that Lucy's attention was no where on him. He growled and threw a fireball at her, missing her completely. It didn't faze her, of course it wouldn't. She knew he'd never hurt her, he knew that too and growled.

"PAY ATTENTION TO ME!"

"I was, you started hating me though so... yeah." Lucy said turned the page.

"Why are you even reading? Huh? You're only 7!"

"You can read as well Natsu."

"So?!" He blushed from embarrassment.

Lucy peeked up from under her eyelashes and smiled lightly to herself.

"You're mean Lucy!" Natsu yelled at her.

"Oh please, don't hate me. Don't." She mumbled.

Natsu growled and Lucy started laughing this time, her book falling out of her lap. She stood up and wiped her dress off.

"Wanna go swimming?" She suggested.

"So NOW you want to pay attention to me."

"Never mind the-"

"I wanna! I wanna!" Natsu said.

Lucy giggled and walked over to Natsu, grabbing his hand as the two of the ventured into the forest. The two of them counted backwards from 100 and by the time they were done they arrived at the lake.

"Promise to save me if a fish eats me?" Lucy asked.

"Promise."

"Alright then." Lucy said shrugging her dress off.

She kept her undies on as she jumped into the pool, splashing Natsu all over with water. Natsu grinned and took his shirt off, jumping into the water as well. The two of them started swimming around, occasionally splashing at each other.

"Lucy, when do you want to start our journey together?" Natsu asked.

"What do you mean Natsu?"

"Remember? We're going to travel with each other?"

"Oh, yeah. Um... I don't know, when do you two want to travel together?"

"Um well... I was thinking, maybe when we're ten?"

"Ten?! That's in a few years, we'll still be kids!"

"So? Kids can travel the world. By the time we're ten I'll be a dragon master and you'll be the smartest person in the world! With the two of us we can overcome anything."

"Oh well um, oh..."

"What's wrong Lucy?" Natsu asked swimming over.

"Well um, oh, I just, I'm scared a little."

"Really? There's nothing to fear though! Everyone should fear us in fact!"

"Well I guess that's true, oh, I know! How about instead, we'll go out and travel together the day you beat Papa!" Lucy suggested.

"What? That might neve-"

Lucy raised an eyebrow.

"I mean, of course that's going to happen! Pretty soon too! Alright Lucy, the day I beat Father we're going to go travel the world! First stop will be your home so you can see your parents again." Natsu said.

Lucy's eyes widened, "Natsu."

"I know you miss them, though you never talk about them. I know you want to stay with us too so yeah, it would be unfair if out on our journey we would only visit Father and not your parents as well."

"Natsu, we don't ha-"

"But I want you too. Now that I know you are going to be with me forever, I'm not afraid of you leaving any longer. Not to say I was afraid! I was just um, worried! That's it! Worried! I'm not worried anymore though."

Lucy sniffed and hugged Natsu, completely forgetting they were both in the lake swimming shirtless.

"Thank you Natsu." She whispered.

Natsu blushed and Lucy felt the water around her get warmer.

"Whatever. I better get to have that cake you describe when we visit them though or else I'm going to be angry."

Lucy giggled and pulled back, headbutting their heads together.

"It's a deal."

"Great, now come on! Let's surprise Father by catching a really big fish all by ourselves!"

"No Natsu! I don't want to get eaten by a fish."

"I won't let the first eat you, remember our promise? And he's not going to eat you if you're bait."

"Natsu! Bait is the definition of eaten!"

"Is it? Then how about a decoy?"

"NATSU!"
