Little Lucy was 7 years, 0 weeks, 0 days and 124 minutes old when she woke up and realized what today was.

"HOORAAAAAAAAY!" Lucy screamed at the top of her lungs when she woke up.

Igneel roared loudly to try and warn off enemies while Natsu went deaf. The two of them got up and stared at the little girl who was jumping up and down in a circle, waving her hair around and clapping her hands.

"Lucy, I thought we agreed to sleep until the sun was above us in the sky? It's beside us right now." Natsu said cleaning out his ears.

"And what have I told you about screaming? You nearly gave me a heart attack." Igneel added.

"It's my birthday today though! I couldn't help it, I'm so excited!" Lucy cheered.

Igneel's body froze while Natsu flicked the dirt off his fingernails.

"What the heck is a birthday?" He asked digging in his ear again.

Lucy screeched and Natsu went deaf a second time that morning.

"How do you not know what a birthday is?! It's the day you're born! It's the day everyone celebrates that you're born and that you're one year older than before! That's a birthday!" Lucy said.

"Oh... never had one." Natsu said.

Lucy was about to screeched but Natsu tackled her to the ground and covered her mouth. Lucy blinked and smiled sheepishly as she took his hand off her mouth.

"Sorry, how could you never had a birthday though?" She asked.

"Don't know, just never had one." He shrugged getting off her.

"How old are you then Natsu?" Lucy asked.

"...7 I think... yeah, 7. At least that's what Igneel tells me." Natsu said.

"Oh... alright then! Good news Natsu, it's your birthday today too! From today on you're 8 and I'm 7! Hooray! Happy birthday to us!" Lucy cheered.

Natsu rolled his eyes, "whatever."

"You're only saying that because you don't know what a birthday is, don't worry though Natsu because I'll show you. My birthday parties always had food and cookies and streamers and balloons and presents and cake! There always have to be a cake! I'm sure Papa has this all planned out, right Papa?" Lucy asked turning to him.

Igneel had nothing though. No party, no food, no cookies, no streamers (whatever that was), no balloons, no presents and definitely no cake. Igneel didn't even know it was her birthday. Lucy looked over at her Papa and noticed he wasn't saying anything or moving at all. Lucy blinked.

"Papa?"

"I'm sorry daughter." Igneel said bowing his head.

Instead of tears, Igneel heard laughter.

"I know Papa, I never told you when my birthday was so how could you have known?"

Igneel blinked, "huh?"

"I said, how could you have known it was my- excuse me, our birthday party if we didn't tell you?" Lucy asked.

Igneel blinked once again, "I couldn't."
