Here is today's useless fact.

Bet you didn't know that Pinocchio is Italian for "pine head."

Red String Of Awesomeness

.

Lucy was quiet as she observed Natsu kicking a poor tree over and over again. It wasn't that hard to find him, all she had to do was follow the trail of broken trees. It seems Natsu had met his match though since he wasn't able to kick down this tree, or was he even trying? Lucy walked over to him, holding her hands behind her back. She walked around Natsu and looked at him, seeing a huge pout on his face as he kicked the tree.

"Wanna talk about it?" She asked.

"No." He grunted.

Lucy hummed and nodded, sitting down against the tree and hugging her legs to her chest as she waited for him to be ready to talk. Natsu growled, he couldn't very well kick the tree anyone now that she was resting against it.

"Do you know how old Igneel is?" Lucy asked.

Natsu scuffed, "does it matter?"

"Well it does if you think about it. Did you know that before we came to this world, dragons lived here first? Not just dragons though, a whole bunch of creatures. Papa must have been here for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years." Lucy said.

"Big deal." Natsu snorted.

"All these years he's lived here, he probably had a family and friends... Papa's alone now though."

Natsu stopped sulking and blinked.

"There aren't any dragons in the world anymore, dragons used to rule this world and now humans do. All his friends, his family, they must have all died a long time ago but somehow Papa is alive. He lost everyone, he had to go on living alone without them."

"What's your point Lucy!?" Natsu yelled. Because whatever she was telling him right now was really making him sad.

"My point is did you even listen to the song? His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain, Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane. Without his life-long friend, Puff could not be brave so Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave? My point is Natsu that you're not the only one who's depressed about leaving Papa, how do you think he's going to feel when we leave him?" Lucy asked getting up.

Natsu was speechless.

"Papa probably took us in because he was lonely and in 50 or 60 years he'll be lonely again."

"Lucy-"

"So my point is Natsu! How come you get to throw a fit and make everyone worry about you when in the future when we're gone, Papa is all alone. How come he can't get angry over it? How come he can't wreck stuff because his children are humans?"

Natsu started at the ground, kicking up dirt.

"I want to stay with Papa just like you Natsu, how come I don't get to cry because I can't?!"

"I wasn't crying." Natsu mumbled.

"Humans can't live forever Natsu, one day we'll die but we'll always be with Papa. In here." Lucy smiled touching her heart.

Natsu stared, his eyes scrunching together.

"If Papa lives forever then he'll never forget us and if he never forgets us then we'll never truly be gone! Besides, we'll be reincarnated once we die. If that's true then we can meet Papa in another life! We can live together again and train, we can live our lives all over again and again and again." Lucy cheered.

"Really?" Natsu asked.

"Of course silly! As long as we continue to wish to know Papa, we'll always meet him even though we won't remember him. Our hearts will draw us together because you see Natsu. Though you can't see it, there is a red string tied around your finger." Lucy said.

"My... finger?" Natsu asked looking at a finger.

"Up, it's called the red string of fate but it's invisible though. No one can see it but that doesn't mean it's not there. You see this string brought us together and it binds us together. This string is what led Igneel to you and to me. Once that happened our strings became intertwined so now it'll bring me to you and you to me wherever we are." Lucy said.

Natsu looked down and tried to spot the invisible string.

"So when we die our string won't disappear, it'll become longer and stretched all the way across the world to where we'll be reborn at and then we'll meet again. And it'll be just like always, the three of us catching fish and laughing."

"You swear Lucy? This all sounds... unbelievable-"

"Would I ever lie to you Natsu?" Lucy asked.

Natsu honestly did not know the answer to that. Lucy snorted and rolled her eyes as she walked over to Natsu and hooked their elbows together.

"I swear it Natsu, on the bracelets that binds us together just like the red string." Lucy said, her bracelet right in front of his face while Natsu's bracelet was right in front of hers.

Natsu started at their bracelets and smiled a little, "when I come back, can I be a real dragon?"

Lucy giggled, "I don't know about that Natsu. Even if you could, I don't think I'd want to come back as a dragon."

Natsu looked at Lucy. What would be the point of being a dragon if Lucy stayed human? She'd be alone with two dragons, unable to train or play games because of their sizes. Igneel had a hard time playing with Lucy, other than the imagination game and Natsu didn't want to be a pretend Knight!

"Never mind! I want to stay human as well!" Natsu said.

Lucy giggled again, throwing her arms around him.

"Alright Natsu, now no more talk about leaving Papa okay? And make sure you apologize for worrying him." Lucy lectured.

"Yeah, and I'll tell Father about our red strings so he won't be sad either!" Natsu smiled running off.

Lucy watched him run with a smile of her own on her face. It was a lie, she does lie to him from time to time but only when it's really important so Lucy thinks that makes us for it. There was no such thing as a red string for families, only for lovers. There was no way the three of them could have strings together... it was a nice idea though. Lucy wished there was a red string tied around all their fingers, always connecting them even after death. She loved Natsu and Igneel, she always wanted to know them... forever.

Igneel and Natsu being lovers though? Lucy laughed at the thought. Igneel had probably already met the female dragon that his string was connected too. Lucy didn't think you could reconnect your string to someone else. Then there was herself and Natsu... maybe their strings were connect? It was pretty crazy how they met, it was like a force of nature, a hand of fate, destiny. Lucy snorted and shook her head. No way. There was no way Lucy and Natsu could be destined together because first of all she told him not to fall in love with her and secondly... secondly...

... Lucy couldn't think up of a se-

Secondly! Secondly he was her student and that was all Lucy needed to prove why they couldn't be together! She wasn't stopping it there because she couldn't think of anything else, nope. Maybe it was the hand of fate or destiny or something strange that made Lucy feel like something was tugging at her finger.

"Come on Lucy!" Natsu cheered waving his hand at her.

Lucy looked up shocked, her face turning red as she tried to come up with an explanation on why it felt like her finger was just tugged.

"You know, instead of calling it the red string of fate can we call ours the red string of awesomeness? Because I like that much better." Natsu grinned.

It was just the wind Lucy came up with. There was no way she could be destined to end up with someone like Natsu... though he wasn't that bad now that she knew him. Lucy huffed and refused to look at him as she walked up and right passed him, making her way back to their home. Natsu just smiled and laughed, running to catch up with her.

"I was tugging on the red string earlier to tell you to hurry up and follow me, did you feel it Lucy?"
