Little Lucy was six years, thirty-one weeks, five days and twenty-eight minutes old when she asked, "Papa! Papa! Can I go to the human village with you this time?"

Igneel Dragneel was seven hundred and nine years, forty-two weeks, one day and eleven minutes old when he replied, "now why on Earthland would you ever want to go?"

"Because I haven't left the forest since you first brought me here! And all I ever see is trees and water! And I might be some help, I could go to the village and buy all our supplies with your dragon treasure since I imagine humans try to run away from you! And I want some books but I don't know what books I want so it would be difficult for you to get them! And where do you hide your dragon treasure because I've looked all around our home and I never see any hiding in the bushes or trees?"

Too many questions with this little one. Natsu stopped listening after the first question and started chasing a dragonfly around. Igneel sighed, knowing this day would soon come. He hadn't expected it to come so soon though! Lucy had only been with them for a while, he was sure the humans hadn't given up searching for her after a short amount of time and knew it would have been dangerous for Lucy if she went with him.

"No dear, I'm sorry but you can't come." Igneel answered.

That was his answer for all of her questions. Little Lucy pouted and sat down, crossing her legs.

"But it's unfair! Natsu gets to go!" She whined.

"Natsu can't go." Igneel countered.

"Yes he can! How did he get me this dress then?! Or my ball!" Lucy asked.

"He didn't tell me he was going or else he would have stayed, now don't go getting any ideas in your head. Understand that your Papa is doing this for your own good. I'm protecting you." Igneel tried to reason.

"But I'm human too! You're the one who needs protecting Papa!" Lucy countered back.

"No you're not, you're dragon." Natsu said in the background pouncing on his dragonfly.

"No means no Lucy." Igneel said ending the conversation.

Lucy growled as she glared up at her Father, then it turned soft... then into another glare.

"You're lucky dragons don't cry or else I'd be crying right now!" She yelled pointing a finger at him.

Igneel had no idea what the business about dragon's not crying was. He figured it was something Natsu must have told her and was happy with his son at the moment for telling her that. Igneel was sure that if she would have cried he would have caved so this was working out nicely for him.

"I'll bring you back everything you need, books and food and other junk." He told her.

"It's boring in the forest though, all I ever see are trees and that one boulder there and the lake." Lucy told him.

"The forest is bigger than you think Lucy, why don't you explore it a little?"

"Defenseless? And be attacked by bears or worse?! No way!" Lucy screamed.
