Dragon's Sickness

.

"Father! Father! FATHER!" Natsu yelled.

Igneel's eyes flashed open and he looked over at his son. His eyes widened and he felt his heart racing when he saw his son's face. He thought he's seen everything, raising Natsu from a baby he thought he knew everything about him and seen every expression. This expression though, this emotion on his face... Igneel had never seen it before. Fear.

"What is it?" Igneel asked.

"Lucy! Lucy, she's not waking up and she's really, really hot! I don't know what to do Father!" Natsu whined.

Igneel got up and looked for his daughter, leaning down to her. Her face was flustered and her breathes were short, Igneel nudged her with his snort. She didn't response and Igneel felt her warmness. Humans weren't supposed to be this warm, something was wrong.

"Pick up Lucy, Natsu and get on my back. Hurry." Igneel said lying down.

"Why? What's wrong with her?!" Natsu yelled.

"Just do as I tell you! We're taking her to a human village, hurry now!" Igneel growled.

Natsu nodded and picked up Lucy, hopping on his father's back. He held her close to his chest as they flew off, staring worriedly at his teacher. What was wrong with her he wondered. What was happening?

"Natsu I'm going to drop you two off there, you're going to need to go to the hospital. It's the house with a red plus sign on it, you know what that looks like right?" Igneel asked.

"Yeah, but Father-"

"You know I can't go, just look at me Natsu. It's up to you, the humans will take Lucy and take care of her. Find out what's wrong and after they fix her come back to me, alright? Be sure not to tell them your names, if so make one up."

"Okay Father."

"If anything goes wrong, if Lucy suddenly gets taken from you then fire a shot in the sky and I'll come for you two."

"Why would Lucy get taken from me?"

Igneel got very quiet all of a sudden.

"Because I took her." He mumbled.

Natsu blinked and stared down at Lucy, "you mean... you didn't find her like you did me?"

"No Natsu, maybe took isn't the right word. I found Lucy just like you, I didn't take her though. I offered her something else, another family and she came back with me."

"So Lucy wanted to leave her home? Why is she always sad then when she mentions her parents? Why does she want to go back home?!" Natsu growled.

"Because Natsu, she misses them."

"If she missed them though then why did she go with you?"

"She was lonely."

Natsu blinked.

"There was no one there for her, I found her alone Natsu. The only reason she probably came with me was because I promised her you." Igneel said.

"Me?" He whispered.

"I told her about you, all about you Natsu. She wanted to meet you, she wanted to be friends and that's why she came."

Natsu looked down at Lucy... the reason she left her family, her home behind her was because of... him.

"Focus Natsu, the town's coming up. Do you remember what to do?" Igneel asked.

"Yes Father."

"Good, I'll be at the same spot for your return. Let's hope nothings wrong with our Lucy."

"There's nothing to panic over son, it's just a cold. Tell me, has she been out in the rain lately? I know it was raining just a while ago." The strange human asked Natsu.

"Yes." Natsu answered.

Though they were in a cave, there was no way to close the caves entrance and keep the rain out. Lucy must have gotten this 'cold' from that.

"Well she's resting now, we gave her some medicine to put her fever down. Let her sleep it over and she'll be better by tomorrow." The human said.

"Thanks." Natsu responded.

"Now tell me son, where are your parents? I have some manners to discuss with them." He asked.

Natsu blinked, "they're in the bakery shop over there."

"Oh heavens, why would parents let their children come here alone? I'll go get them for us son, I'll be right back. Robin! Watch the kids for me, I'm going out for a bit!" The human called to the other human.

Natsu watched him leave then stared over at Lucy. She was still warm, but her face was back to her natural color. So she was sick and the human said if she slept she'd be better by tomorrow. Natsu knew the problem and the cure, time to meet back with Igneel. How was he supposed to do that though with the human girl, Robin sitting near the entrance?

Duh, he was a fire mage. Natsu squeezed Lucy's hand then slipped out the room, entering an empty one before he started lighting things on fire. He ran out the room to the entrance and waved his hands frantically at Robin.

"Help! Fire!" He yelled.

Robin fell out of her seat and stood back up quickly, "fire? Where?!"

Natsu didn't need to answer because Robin ran off towards the black smoke. He went back into Lucy's room and wrapped her around in the blanket she was in before picking her up and taking them out of the place. He carefully held onto her as he ran back to Igneel with her in his arms, meeting his Father minutes later.

"What was wrong?" Igneel asked looking at his son.

"She had a cold." Natsu said.

Igneel blinked before sighing out in relief.

"A cold, of course it was a cold. Thank goodness it was just a cold." Igneel sighed.

"The humans said she's be fine as long as she sleeps." Natsu said.

"Good, good... you did good Natsu. Good work." Igneel said.

Natsu nodded and jumped back onto his father's back. As they flew back towards their home, Natsu sighed out in relief as well. Lucy was going to be just fine. Natsu chuckled and stroked her hair.
