The feeling of soft lips brushed against your neck. Which in turn caused shivers to run down your spine as you fiddled with the rings splayed across the fingers of Mountain's hand. Said lips giving a firm, but gentle, press with each kiss every time they went back for more. That was until they stopped and rested there.
Giving one more little peck, a small peaceful smile was placed upon the ghouls face as he let out a content sigh.
Picking up a strand of your hair, he asked a question. "Ness, do you know the reason why you get them?"
Allowing it to hang in the air for a bit before you answered. Thinking about it, you didn't really have a good explanation other than the fact that you like him. "Not really no, I mean I have an idea, hopefully it's what I'm thinking.." You spoke out, letting the end of your sentence fall off into a whisper.
Turning around to look at the slightly blushing ghoul so that your front meets his. "Why?"
"Remember when we were at the lake and I asked you about why you couldn't shift since the night before you left?" Earning a nod from the smaller water ghoul who was now growing curious, the tall Earth ghoul continued on. "You said it was like you couldn't feel the other half to shift over to. What did you mean by that?"
"Well you know when you shift how you feel your ghoul part? I don't know why, but it wasn't there that night. That's why I was shocked to know that I had turned at the lake. Why do you ask?"
"When did you try shifting, the exact date?"
"Mountain, I don't see why this is so important to know."
"Ness please-" He practically begged you to answer. Causing your face to soften and you to let out a small sigh.
"2013, on the second of January. It was the day before I left, and the day after my birthday." Taking a breath, you continue on questioning the ghoul that's laid in front of you. "Why won't you tell me why you're asking-"
"That's the day I came up."
Silence, a beautifully terrifying thing it can be. See, silence is a thing that can be both good and bad. It's good when you need to focus or when you need to calm down. It's bad when you don't know what to do or what to say, it's bad when you're completely and utterly lost. It's bad when you don't know what's going through another's head, what their thoughts are.
Pulling you from your thoughts with a whisper, he carried on explaining what he meant. "That was the day I was summoned from hell, Ness. You couldn't shift because I was being pulled to Earth."
The confusion on your face melting away as you spoke aloud. "But that would have to mean that we're mates, no?" Taking the second that Mountain left you, you thought deeper into the topic. "Holy shit we're mates-"
Just as the Earth ghoul was about to speak, you heard a faint whisper behind you. Shooting up to a sitting position on the bed, you whip your head around trying to find the source of the noise. "What the hell was that?" You ask aloud to no one in particular.
"Mountain, did you hear that?"
Looking back to see the tall being just as confused as you, but for a slightly different reason. "Ness? How can I hear you when you aren't talking?"
"What? What on Earth are you talking about?" Giving him a response back, paired with an even more confused gaze.
"You're talking. I can hear you clear as day, but your mouth isn't moving."
"AHH-" Now it was your turn to feel how startled he felt, along with receiving a confused glance. "Oh my Satan's- What the actual fuck-"
"Woah.." He mutters from beside you, now sat up on the bed instead of laying down.
Breathing in a deep breath and calming down, you try to fill the silence. "Yeah, woah. Uh, well I guess that confirms it then." The silence consuming both of you once more.
"Mountain?"
Looking up from your hands, as he was playing with your fingers; nervous as to what you would say now that you know. "I want to take it slow, I don't want to rush it just because we're fated. I don't want the bond to be the only reason we get together. It wouldn't feel right being with someone for that reason and that reason alone. At least not to me."
Suddenly gaining a bit of a confidence boost, Mountain picks up your hands and brings them closer to his face. Placing gentle kisses on your knuckles, almost one for each, while looking you straight in your eyes. "Whatever you want is what I want, Angel. It doesn't matter to me, as long as it's what you want."
Giving him the biggest smile you've ever had come upon your face in your lifetime. "No wonder I get swarms of fireflies whenever you're around. I have no clue how I lasted so long without the light they give off." Placing a kiss on his lips, you smile more into it.
Pulling back only slightly to look down at your lips and then back up at your eyes, he spoke. "Well then, I guess I'm gonna have to go catching fireflies for you, huh?" Pecking your lips once more before going for an attack with tickles.
The two of you spent the rest of the night laying in bed happily talking, eventually falling asleep cuddled together.
