Chapter 29

Ben woke up the sound of Otis yelling, which is something Ben did not want to walk into this early in the morning.

Ben quickly brushed his teeth before getting dressed and heading out the window. He carefully made it down the pipe but his left foot slipped making him lose his balance and fall to the ground with a thud. Ben groaned quietly as he rolled over.

"Fuck me" he winced at the pain in his back. Ben finally got up and walked slowly towards his bike. Ruby offered to pick him up but Ben declined. He was still trying to find a way to talk to Ruby about their break up but the more time he spent around her, the more he felt his head would explode.

Ben hopped on his bike and began to ride to the college. His back ached bad from the fall, making Bens posture look absolutely horrendous.

Ben finally got to the school and hooked his bike up to one of the racks just as Ruby appeared. "You look painful" Ben glared at Ruby. "I slipped down the pipe outside my window to avoid Otis' yelling" he explained "well that was a terrible idea, clearly" Ben rolled his eyes.

"Where's Sean?".

"His mum told him to take the day off today. He's not well but she insisted he take the day off to rest so he can make the fundraiser tonight" Ruby informed.

The two walked up to the school entrance and just as the two walked in they seen Abbi get up to get everyone's attention. But it was Aisha that clapped which got everyone's attention.

"Thank you for coming, everyone. Cal is in a very vulnerable place, right now".

"What happened?" Ben asked Ruby but the girl shrugged not knowing herself.

"So we need to start searching for them straight away".

"The last text message said they were going to Pinelands Shopping Centre".

"This is a real moment to focus on the power of intention and manifest finding Cal" Ben nudged Ruby when he seen her make a face. "I get it, we have to look for Cal. No need for the big inspirational speeches. That's not gonna bring them back" Ruby stated.

"Come on. Let's do this. Come on, Cavendish" Abbi clapped.

"You look fine. Can you get your head out of your phone now?" Ben asked as he walked with Ruby into the Shopping Centre along with all the other students.

"Whilst I appreciate you saying I look fine, I still have to see it for myself. I'm hot and I'd like to keep it that way, I don't want to be walking around here looking like an ogre, Ben" Ben rolled his eyes.

Abbi suggested that it was better if everyone split into groups so that's what everyone did. Ruby being too focused looking at herself in the camera of her phone didn't notice it was just her and Ben whilst Otis was behind them followed by O a moment later.

"What's the plan?" Ruby and Ben turned around and seen Otis looking at them with his hands in his pockets, the presence of O made them look towards her too.

"I would rather wear synthetic wool" Ruby dryly laughed before she grabbed Bens arm and dragged him away with her.

"So, I'm guessing you seen the apology video?".

"If that's her way of apologising to me then she may want to think again. I rather my name leave someone's lips when they apologise to me. You don't include me as just another person." The Matthews girl responded and Ben wasn't surprised with that answer at all.
