Chapter 28

Ben was eating some toast before he headed off to college when he heard the sound of a car honking outside. He brushed it off at first but when he heard it honking repeatedly he grabbed his bag and walked out the door to see who was making so much noise.

"Ruby? What are you doing here?".

"Get in loser" was all Ruby said. "Unless you want to ride your rusty old bike to school?" Ben looked over at his bike. He hated that bike. Ben got into the car and put his seatbelt on.

"The video has blown up and there's so many comments".

"Okay, while that's great I've got a great proposition for you" Ben furrowed his brows confused. "I know you don't want to run in Otis' campaign so what if you ran of another one?".

"Okay, you need to elaborate I'm not a mind reader".

"Well, you've got skills in talking. I've got skills in designing. So, instead of working for Otis, we work with Connor" Ben quirked a brow "Connor? As in fucked warm fruit Connor?" Ruby nodded. "Think of it like this, neither of us are going to be working alongside Otis and we still win. Just by working with Connor. We do the work and let him be the face of it all. I've already started and talked with him about it and he's more than happy to have you on board. He actually thinks Otis forced you to say what you did at the debate so he doesn't blame you at all" Ruby explained.

Ben was thinking about it until Ruby spoke up again. "We could take down O whilst you also get back at Otis. I mean, that sounds pretty good to me" Ruby suggested honestly.

"Ok...sure. But we have to include Sean. He's part of the untouchables too".

"Oh, he already is part of it. He helps me with the designing".

"Well then it's settled, the untouchables are working with Connor". Ruby looked at Ben and smiled as she drove to college.

Ruby and Ben parked and got out of the car walked towards the building where they also met Sean. "So, are you in board?" Sean asked obviously knowing Ruby would ask Ben.

"Yeah, I'm on board" Sean fist pumped the air. The three walked through the doors and immediately eyes went to Ruby who appeared to be kind of nervous from the looks. Ben put a comforting hand on the girls back without even thinking.

"You're so brave for outing O" one girl said as she came up with a boy beside her.

"Yeah, and I accidentally pissed in my wardrobe when I was drunk once, so you shouldn't feel embarrassed" the boy admitted.

Ruby didn't know what to say so Ben took it upon himself to speak. "Ruby just wanted people to know the real O. Your support means a lot" he smiled at the two.

"You're also an inspiration" the boy said to Ben which took him by surprise. "Speaking up to O like that at the debate. We don't blame you for O being outed. We know Otis forced you but you inspired us to use our voices".

"Oh, well, thank you" the boy and girl walked away leaving the trio standing there kind of shocked. "I wasn't expecting that at all" Ben spoke first and Ruby followed not saying anything but nodding agreeing with Ben.

"That was awesome! You two have inspired the college. We have got this campaign in the bag with you two" Ben and Ruby looked at each other and smiled.

They walked together when they heard the squeaking noise of shoes following behind them. "Ruby, hi, um...that stuff I said about us and Maeve, I'm really sorry. It was big headed of me, and I was panicking, and that sometimes makes me say stupid things. But I...I really think we still have a chance of winning this thing if we can move past it" Otis told the girl.
