Ben

King Benjamin "Ben" Florian Beast is a major character in the Descendants franchise.The husband of Queen Mal, and the King of the United States of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost.

Ben is the idealistic son of King Beast and Queen Belle. Next in line for the throne, Ben is caring, brave and not afraid of change.

Physical Appearance

Ben is a 18-year-old teenager by the end of Descendants 4. He has brown hair with golden streaks in-between. His eyes are hazel-green.

On VK Day, Ben and Mal, along with the other original VK's, are preparing to bring the new arrivals to Auradon Prep. Before they leave, Ben organizes a parade and professes his love for Mal in front of the crowd, who have come to welcome the new arrivals. Ben professes his love for Mal and he asks her to marry him, which she happily accepts.

On the day Mal and her friends go to recruit four new kids from the Isle of the Lost, Ben organizes a parade to welcome them. Before they set off, Ben kneels down and asks Mal to marry him in front of the entire audience (Did I Mention (Reprise)). She accepts and their engagement becomes official, even Belle and the Beast are extremely delighted by this as they are willing to take in Mal as their new daughter-in-law. While leaving the Isle with the new recruits (Dizzy Tremaine, Celia Facilier, Squirmy Smee, Squeaky Smee), Hades attempts to break through the barrier. After a hard battle, Mal is able to stop him. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Audrey breaks into the Museum of Cultural History to steal the Queen's crown. Maleficent's Scepter calls out to her newfound darkness and turns her into a vengeful witch. Ben, Mal, Belle, Beast and Fairy Godmother are having a meeting. With the news broken out and Hades's near-escape, Mal hesitantly decides to permanently close the barrier to keep the people safe, much to her and Ben's disappointment. He reluctantly agrees when she reminds him of their jobs as the King and Queen of Auradon and assures him that she doesn't want to take away his dream because it was the reason why she fell in love with him and what lead to where she and her friends are now and he respects her decision.

Audrey magically ages Mal, spreads a sleeping curse throughout Auradon, and turns Ben into a beast after he rejected her again. The rejection made her turn the rest of the people still awake into stone. Mal is able to reverse the magic by traveling back to the Isle of the Lost where Celia brings her to Hades's lair to find his ember (the only object more powerful than the scepter) to take down Audrey.

While leaving the Isle, Gil and Harry Hook escape and Uma steals the ember to bargain with Mal about freeing the rest of the VKs. Mal reluctantly agrees, but Uma still keeps the ember. Back on the Isle, the team tries to track down Ben in Beast Castle. Audrey enchants the suits of armor in the room to trap them, but they manage to defeat the armors by working together. The girls go to Audrey's dorm room to find clues while the boys go looking for Ben. A beastlike Ben attacks the boys when they catch up to him, but Carlos manages to calm him down and help him remove a thorn stuck in his palm, which was the reason he was in a flying rage. Jane manages to reverse some of the magic by spraying him with water from The Enchanted Lake, making him mostly human again, sans a beard and two fangs.

The couple reunites at Evie's Cottage. Mal compliments his new beard, but not his fangs. Doug, Gil, and Jane go looking for Fairy Godmother while the rest make their way to Fairy Cottage to find Audrey. There, they find Chad Charming trapped in a room, but no Audrey. As they were leaving, Mal comes clean about their decision to permanently close the barrier on the Isle, enraging not only Uma, Harry, and Celia, but also Evie, Carlos, and Jay and all he could say is that it's "for Auradon's safety". Out of anger, Celia drops the ember in a birdbath to disrupt it's power while Uma and Harry take off. After a brief confrontation with Evie, her friends and Ben are all turned to stone.

Mal goes to beg Uma to help her restore the ember's power, saying she saw how much she cares about other people. Uma tells her to get herself out of the mess. Audrey holds Celia hostage and forces her to fight. Without the ember's power, Audrey holds the upper hand until Uma combines her magic with Mal's to restore it. Mal finally defeats Audrey and saves Celia along with the rest of Auradon; Audrey is restored to herself, but the impact of the magic has rendered her unconscious. Mal suggests retrieving Hades from the Isle in order to save Audrey's life. At first, Ben is against it, but agrees to send guards to retrieve him when he learns that Hades is Mal's father, thus his future father-in-law. When a revived Audrey realizes the error of her ways and apologizes, Ben and Mal apologize for hurting her in return.

While celebrating their royal engagement at the port, Mal is asked to make a speech. Mal philosophizes on how everyone is capable of good and evil, no matter where they come from, and she cannot simply be Queen of Auradon, but also the Isle of the Lost. Her heartfelt speech moves Ben enough to decide for the barrier around the Isle of the Lost to come down at last. Fairy Godmother hands over her Magic Wand; Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos say the spell together to remove the barrier and form a solid bridge to the Isle, allowing everyone to come through. Uma, Celia, Harry, Gil, and the rest of the islanders cross the bridge to celebrate the eventful occasion with the rest of Auradon, who have now fully accepted them. Hades crosses the bridge last and asks to be invited to the wedding. Mal embraces him, and Hades then gives the couple his blessing, but when Ben is embracing Mal, Hades gives him the "I'm watching you" warning. (Break This Down).

Powers & Abilities

In Descendants 3, Audrey transforms Ben into a Beast. It is unknown if Ben can transform into a Beast by will, after he returned back to human.

Beast Form: After being cursed by Audrey, Ben was turned into a humanoid beast with the characteristics almost similar to his father's which was the fur, fangs and claws but without horns to his head.

Partial Transformation: After being splashed with the water from the Enchanted Lake, he returned in his human form with only a beard and still had fangs.

Claws & Fangs: His animalistic form granted him razor sharp claws capable of imprinting them when shredding walls and had canine-like teeth.

Feral Mind: As a beast, Ben possessed rage making him feral towards his surroundings especially when enduring pain.

Enhanced Agility: He was also capable of lunging from further feats away above normal standards as a beast.

Happily-ever-after continues for Auradon's power couple, Mal and Ben, as they prepare to say "I do" at an epic celebration with their friends and family, but Hades threatens to ruin it all.

Ben: Mal Bertha, with this ring, I pledge everything that I have to you. My life, my kingdom, my heart. I promise to always be there for you, to accept everything that you are, and to always put you first.

Mal: With this ring, I pledge to you all the days of my life, all of my burdens and all of my joys. I promise to be my best for you, to share all my secrets and to keep yours and to choose good always.

Fairy Godmother: Do you, Ben, take Mal to be your wife, to love and cherish forever?

Ben: I do.

Fairy Godmother: Do you, Mal, take Ben to be your husband, to love and cherish forever?

Mal: I do.

Fairy Godmother: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you... husband and wife! Bippity boppity woooo!

Mal: I love you guys.

Mal: I'm married!

Ben: So this is what happily ever after looks like.
