Max had always been the clueless kid who ended up in a lot of trouble, either looking for it or being followed everywhere. He had a long list of failures and bad times... but it was something he had learned to live with.
Max Knight was used to making a fool of himself, draw stares and getting hurt. When you've been dealing with it all your life, at some point you get used to it. Max was the guy who was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. And as his best friend, Ben used to always tell him, "Max, you're a walker of bad luck."
Another thing that could be added to his unfortunate life was the fact of being tried for being gay... that had brought him countless problems and embarrassing moments, but never one that big.
Max was a godly soul and liked to do favors for others, so when that girl showed up asking him to please leave a ' declaration of love ' letter in the soccer team captain's locker, he didn't think that would change his entire life... Maybe and just maybe, Max was in the wrong place at the right time.
Maybe the universe was finally willing to give him a little good luck... or maybe he just wanted to sink it deeper.
