Chapter 61

The next morning you woke up to many voices. Confused and sleepy, you looked at the faces of the others who were talking to Air.

How deep were you asleep that you didn't hear them all?

"Aww... look who's waking up..." Sunshine caught you first and started to smile. Air then looked to you too, with a sweet smile as she then slid up to you to give you a kiss. After that you just growled sleepily before you buried your face in your pillow again and had to wake up first.

Air quickly got better. After she was reasonably fit, she had to go to hell for two weeks. She was at a special clinic where she had to do some more tests after all she had been through and all that had happened to her. She was just there to see if she still had any damage or if there was anything left in her, which was luckily not the case.

It just got a little unusual in the church. Cirrus and Mountain started acting strangely and Air was no longer Air as you knew her. The whole day she was at her place in the forest and worked mainly on herself, that she does not weaken so quickly in an attack and she generally becomes stronger.

Terzo was mainly with Air and trained with her, which made you a little jealous because he saw her more than you saw her. If you wanted to visit her in her room, she was either not there, engrossed in her books and had no time, or she was sleeping between all the books and empty coffee mugs.

At BloodyMoons she arrived, there she wanted something from you again, otherwise she didn't care about you for the 4 months. There have already been light vibes from Faire, but until now you didn't want to admit it.

You just came into her room again when she was engrossed in her book and walked through the room. "Hey honey." she gave you a quick kiss on the cheek, but you felt her eyes still in her book and yet she only forced a kiss. Ouch.

It broke your heart a little that her strengths had become more important than you, that you had started to really doubt your love.

"Tomorrow is our third anniversary... I know it's BloodyMoon tomorrow, but that would be a good time to just do something together... just the two of us... without you books... or Terzo." you whisper the last words to yourself and fiddle with your fingers as you realize that she's not even listening to you anymore.

"Sure... if I can get through with the book by tomorrow, we'll be happy to do something together tomorrow." she rambled as she almost ran into her closet when she then sat down on the floor.

"Ok...let me know then..." you said half-heartedly as you then walked out of her room. Even as you closed the door, tears came from your eyes and then as you quickly wiped them away with your hand.

Was it not love between you after all? Does she really find you so uninteresting? Is she just taking advantage of you? Faire 2.0? Is her strength really more important than you?

*Air's pov*
You actually thought that you had already read every book in the library of your elements, but wow... the books were much better.

Immersed in reading you have Fire only half noticed, but had just barely time for him, because the book was really exciting and also very conducive to your strengths. You noticed how he asked you something, but what you answered, you have forgotten.

You didn't know if he was still there or had already left. The whole evening you read through the book as you then threw yourself on your bed and needed a short break.

Since your room was really messy, you started to rearrange it. You were about to hang up your jacket when something fell into your hand. A small box. You opened it and there was the ring inside, with which you wanted to propose to Fire for a long time.

For a while you stood in your room and let the box wander through your fingers as you stared at the ring the whole time. You became aware of how you had behaved towards Fire the last time, that a wave of guilt overtook you and you started to cry.

It hurt your heart to have hurt him so much without really being aware of it.

How can you be such a bad girlfriend? Tomorrow... you have to be there for him and apologize... maybe even propose. Otherwise you would never forgive yourself if it ended with you. Best you had to go to him already now....

*Fire's pov*
On groggy steps, you walked to Terzo's office. You sighed briefly before knocking weakly on his door. Terzo opened the door a little later, while you still looked downcast at the floor.

"Can a bite mark be reversed?" you asked as Terzo silently took you into his arms, knowing what happens without explaining. You howled into his chest as you tried to say something but nothing came out. "Shh Fire... in a minute... have a good cry first... everything will be okay..." he stroked your back.

You then continued to sit in his office as you talked. "... I have the feeling that Air doesn't care about me and that she considers her elements much more important than me. I was with her earlier and how she indirectly insulted me... there's no way to explain how painful it was. I don't want to run after her my whole life just to be there for her when she needs me..."

It was long after 0 o'clock, so BloodyMoon time again... great.

Terzo was about to say something when suddenly wild screams came from her hallway, which sounded very dangerous. Cautiously you both went out to look.

Ghouls attacking each other at BloodyMoons was super normal, but not that bad like this.

Right at the end of the hallway were Rain and Air. Immediately you knew that the screaming came from Rain, because Air was on top of him and hurt him. You came running as you immediately knocked Air off of him.

You pushed her away really hard that she looked at you aggressively and growled at you as you then took a step closer. "Are you crazy!? Why are you attacking Rain!? First ignoring me and then attacking him!? Get your fucking powers under control for once!" you hissed at her so angrily, when you already consciously wanted to lunge to hit her, which you weren't aware of at first.

Only when she held her hand in front of her head, you realized what you had just done wrong and saw your hand above your head. She had already run past you, crying, and ran out of the church and into the forest.

Damn.
