“ARE you sure, you’re okay here?” tanong ni Ryo, hinatid siya nito ngayong umaga pagkatapos niya ma-discharge sa hospital. She was in shocked and over fatigue kaya raw siya nawalan ng malay. Mabuti na lang at napadaan doon ang binata habang papauwi. He explained that he saw her almost fainting outside her husband’s clinic.
She was really thankful of him. Hindi ito nagtanong ng kahit na ano sa kaniya. He was just looking after her while telling his story last time. It made her feel better, honestly.
“Thank you so much, for everything. Hindi ko alam kung paano makakabawi.” she tried smiling but she couldn’t force herself.
“Buy me a nice meal once you’re feeling better.” he smiled.
“Sure, why not.”
“Take good care of your health.” he said before opening his raptor. “I’m leaving, see you around.”
She nodded. “Thank you.”
Ryo gave her a slight nod before closing his car door and left. Vella sighed.
Pumasok na si Vella sa loob, nakarinig siya ng mahinang ingay sa dining room kaya doon siya dumiretso. Naabutan niya si Ate Yoli, ang taga-alaga ni Bea at ang anak sa hapag, kumakain ito ng strawberry pancakes with whip cream.
Eventhough it was really hard to smile and look so cheerfull, this time she really forced herself to do so. She didn’t want her daughter to see her devastated.
“Mommy!” bumaba ito sa upuan. She was running with an open arms towards her.
Naupo si Vella para mapantayan ang anak saka sinalubong ang mahigpit na yakap nito.
“You’re not home last night, mommy.”
Humiwalay siya sa yakap ng anak. “Mommy was busy at work last night.” pagsisinungaling niya. “A-ang d-daddy mo?” her voice almost broke.
Umiling ito. “He called ate Yoli last night.”
Nilingon niya ang kasambahay na ngayon ay nakatayo na. “Tumawag po kagabi, ma’am ang sabi ay maraming ginagawa sa clinic.”
She almost gritted her teeth upon hearing that but she stopped herself. She looked at Bea and smiled.
“Do you want to stay the night with Tita Gia today? You don’t havre school naman ’til tomorrow.”
“Really? Yes, I want, mommy!” she was clapping her hands in excitement.
Tumayo na si Vella at hinawakan ang kamay ng anak. She looked at ate Yoli.
“Ate, you can go home na. Ako na muna ang bahala kay Beatriz, I will call you later na lang if ever.”
“Sige po, Ma’am.”
“Ah, bago ka umuwi pakitawagan na rin ang cook at ang laundry cleaner na huwag munang pumunta ngayon.” dagdag niya.
Tumango naman ang babae bago naglakad paalis ng dining area.
She looked at her daughter and assist her back to her seat. She watched her enjoying her food.
She then sighed.
Oh, Lord! She didn’t want to see her daughter unhappy.
Pagkatapos kumain ni Bea ay pinagligo niya na ito. Habang naliligo ang anak ay saka niya tinawagan si Gia kung pwede ba nitong sunduin si Beatriz sa kanila at magstay muna ito ng isang gabi sa bahay nito.
Gia sounds really confused but she agreed to it.
Wala pang isang oras ang hinintay ni Vella at nakarating na ang kaibigan niya.
