George and Reyna were suddenly jolted awake, their eyes quickly opening as they gasped for air. Water gushed out of their mouths as they coughed and choked, struggling to catch their breaths. The sound of relieved sighs filled the air at the sight of the two teenagers breathing. Harry stumbled and fell into Fred, who quickly caught him and held him close, offering a comforting and supportive arm.

"Reyna,"

Remus places his hands on his daughter's face as she blinks, trying to remove the blurriness from her vision. The witch's eyes were staring at her father but it was clear her mind was miles away.

The surrounding witches and wizards frown as their eyes lock on black tattoo-like symbols that adorned Reyna and George's skin. They were everywhere, up their arms and on their necks.

"Reyna, sweetheart?"

"They're coming," Reyna whispers.

"Who is coming?"

"Burned ones," George croaks out.

With that, the exhaustion overtakes the two teenagers and they fall backwards, their eyes rolling to the backs of their heads. Remus catches Reyna as Professor Snape waves his wand, George's body lifting from the ground as they head towards the Hospital Wing.

Reyna's eyes flutter open before quickly closing again as the bright lights of the Hospital Wing assault her eyes. She opens her eyes for a second time, allowing them to adjust to the light. A bandage was wrapped around her leg where the Grindylow's claws had dug into her leg as it attempted to drag her to her death.

"She's awake!" A voice calls and the sound of multiple footsteps fills the air.

Arms wrap around Reyna and she takes a second to register that Harry was hugging her. But as soon as she realises who was hugging her, she returns the embrace as she feels the boy shake in her arms.

"Hey, it's okay," Reyna shushes the younger wizard. "I'm okay"

"You were dead Reyna," Hermione's eyes were red-rimmed, a clear sign of tears.

"Both of you were," Ginny whispers.

"How is he?" Reyna asks.

"Well, I beat you to waking up Lupin,"

Reyna's eyes move to the left where George was sitting in the wheelchair, a cheeky grin on his face.

"Bloody hell, even death couldn't wipe that cocky grin off your face," Reyna sighs.

"Well, we both went to hell and even the devil told us to piss off," George jokes and Reyna snorts but no one else laughed.

"Tough crowd," Reyna murmurs.

"This isn't funny!" Caleb snaps. "You died, both of you died! Don't you get that?"

"And yet here we are, alive and breathing," George waves his hand. "We're fine"

"I'd almost say we're good," Reyna adds.

"They're getting along," Fred mutters. "Why are they getting along?"

"Oxygen deprivation," Caleb murmurs. "Has to be"

All of the witches and wizards who were not patients had left the Hospital Wing to go to the feast and then go to their dorms to try and get some sleep, leaving Reyna and George alone in the room.

"So real talk time," George breaks the silence. "Are you the fox that saved me?"

"Yes,"

"So you're an animagus?"

"Yes,"

"Well," George leans back. "Because we're destined to be one, I figure we should at least start trying to be friends"

"Okay,"

"We have to get to know each other,"

"I'm an open book," George snorts at Reyna's statement, shaking his head.

"Liar," George retorts. "Friends have to know the deep stuff"

"Uh oh, like what?"

"What's your favourite colour?"

"Oh, you've crossed the line," Reyna jokes and George gives her a pointed look. "Fine, it's blue. A deep sea blue. What's yours?"

"This has to stay a secret," George whispers. "But it's green"

"Oh, the scandal," Reyna laughs.

"These walls are driving me mental," George murmurs. "You down for a prison break Lupin?"

"We're not in prison,"

"You're such a party pooper," George rolls his eyes.

"Shut up,"

"Pooping all over the parties,"

"Alright, then boy genius," Reyna crosses her arms. "What's your plan?"

A red fox pads through the hallways, her eyes flitting for any sign of another person before she exits the castle. Her tail swishes as she approaches the hospital wing window that strangely was only openable from the outside. The fox crouches before leaping up onto the ledge, one it was securely stood on the ledge, the fox uses its nose to nudge open the latch.

A yelp escapes the fox when the window swings open, knocking it off the ledge and onto the ground below. George hops out the window as the fox glares at him.

"Sorry," George raises his hands in surrender as Reyna turns back into her human form.

"Let's go," Reyna replies.

They get to the edge of the Black Lake and Reyna feels her chest tighten as she stares at the murky expanse that was once a paradise to her. Her breaths become short and raggedy before she stumbles back slightly, her eyes blown with panic and fear.

"Reyna?" George turns to see the witch trembling with a hand pressed to her chest.

"I- I can't b-breath," The witch stammers out, the wheezing sounds leaving her emphasising her point.

George helps Reyna sit down before backing away slightly, wanting to give the witch some space so he didn't overwhelm her. The wizard gently reaches forward before he places his hand on top of Reyna's trembling one. Reyna looks up at him, her grey orbs shining with unshed tears.

"Come here," George opens his arms and Reyna accepts his embrace, resting her head on his chest as she listens to the steady beating of his heart.
