The train abruptly comes to a halt, producing a shrill screeching noise that startles the passengers in the compartment. Reyna stands up, attempting to peer through the window, only to be met with a dense fog that obscures her view of the outside world.
"Why are we stopping?" Hermione voices her question. "We can't be there yet"
Above them, the lighting suddenly starts to flicker erratically. Then, in an instant, the lights go out completely, plunging the carriage into darkness.
Mere seconds later, the door to their compartment is flung open, and in rushes Ginny Weasley, looking absolutely terrified. Without hesitation, she swiftly takes a seat between Hermione and Harry, and Hermione wraps a protective arm around the younger girl.
"Maybe we've broken down," Harry suggests and Reyna shakes her head.
"This train is powered by magic, it's practically impossible for it to break down. It's stopped for a reason,"
It has been confirmed that Reyna's statement was indeed accurate as the compartment sways violently, causing her father to be jolted awake from his slumber.
The witch's eyes quickly shift to the window, where frost was slowly starting to form on the glass, prompting Ron to retract his hand.
The compartment is filled with a gentle crackling sound as Remus' hand is engulfed in white flames. In the luminous glow, Reyna's father appears weary and aged, yet his eyes are vigilant while he stands with his daughter at the compartment door, guarding the four younger students.
A hand which was slimy and scabbed pulled open the compartment door, revealing a dementor which towered over the father-daughter duo.
The creature's face was hidden under its black hood. A dementor, one of the many that guard Azkaban prison.
As the dementor fixates its attention on Harry, his complexion turns deathly pale, and his body contorts in an almost unnatural manner before slumping forward onto the compartment floor.
Reyna, who had been observing the scene, locks her gaze on the dementor, her grey orbs transforming into a brilliant orange glow.
A tense standoff ensues between the witch and the dementor, with neither willing to back down.
Suddenly, orange sparks begin to emanate from Reyna's fingertips, their intense heat causing the dementor to falter and withdraw from the confrontation.
After the creature had scurried away from the compartment, Reyna and her father move to Harry's side.
With concern etched on their faces, they crouch down beside him to assess his condition. Reyna quickly retrieves a small vial from her bag, which contained some sort of potion or elixir.
Gently, she waves the vial under Harry's nose, hoping to bring him back to consciousness. Almost instantly, Harry began to stir, but not in a good way. He awoke with a start, retching at the foul smell emanating from the vial.
"That smell," Harry pinches his nose. "It's burnt into my nostrils"
"It worked," Reyna shrugs, sliding the vial back into her bag.
Suddenly, a loud snap startles the five teenagers, causing them to jump. Everyone turns their attention to Remus, who is breaking apart a large slab of chocolate, before handing a piece to Harry.
"Chocolate helps," Remus murmurs. "Triggers serotonin release, excuse me for a moment, I need to go and speak with the driver"
Once her father leaves, all eyes turn to Reyna. The four teenagers bore curious looks at the witch who raises an eyebrow.
"What?"
"What was that thing?" Ginny asks.
"A dementor," Reyna replies. "They guard Azkaban and feed off of any positive emotions. Must have been a search for Sirius Black"
"So what happened to me?" Harry asks.
"Well you sort of went rigid," Ron is the one to answer Harry's question. "You looked like you were having a fit or something"
"Did any of you pass out?"
"No," Ron shakes his head. "I felt like I'd never be cheerful again"
"Did you hear the woman screaming?"
"No one was screaming Harry," Hermione glances at Reyna who shrugs.
The door to the compartment slides open revealing Fred and George Weasley who were both extremely pale, clearly also shaken by their interaction with the dementors.
"You all alright?" Fred asks.
"Reyna had it handled," Hermione looks to the witch who offers her a smile.
"Lupin was useful?" George snorts.
Reyna glares at the slightly taller twin who returns the glare with the same level of intensity. All of the other occupants shift away from the pair who held hatred in their eyes.
"Yes," Reyna snaps. "Unlike you, I didn't piss my pants out of fear"
"That's the best that the great Reyna Lupin can come up with?"
Reyna's harsh glare is fixed on the wizard, who starts to sweat profusely.
His face turns a deep shade of red as he raises a hand to his forehead.
The wizard feels as though he is being cooked from the inside out, causing him to fan his face in an attempt to alleviate the discomfort.
"Reyna!"
Reyna's focus is snapped away from the wizard when her father's voice fills her ears.
Remus stares at his daughter who stares at George, horror forming in her eyes before she slips past the wizard and hurries down the train.
The witch flings open the door to the restroom and quickly secures the lock behind her.
Gasping for air, she steadies herself against the sink and turns to face her reflection in the mirror.
Her heart sinks as she takes in the sight before her - her eyes, once again, are aglow in a fiery shade of orange, a sight she has grown to despise.
