"HO, HO, HO!"

Reyna's eyes crack open to see an enchanted Santa figurine floating above her, fake snow raining down on her as bells jingle loudly through the house. She blinks as the fake flakes stick to her eyelids, a smile forming on her lips.

Excited squeaking fills her ears before a furry ball collides with her chest causing her to laugh, lifting Scout up to her eye level.

The creature blinks at her expectantly and she sighs, reaching into her nightstand to pull out a small package. Scout takes the parcel from Reyna's hand and opens it to find a shiny necklace, matching the one that hung around her neck.

The creature's eyes double in size as he hastily pushes the necklace into his pocket before pulling out a small silver ring, and handing it to Reyna.

"Where did you get this, hmm?" Reyna raises an eyebrow and Scout blinks innocently as Reyna spots the crumbs around his mouth. "How many mince pies have you stolen?"

"Well, I found five wrappers on the floor,"

Reyna looks up to see George leaning against the doorframe, the wrappers in his hand glinting under the light. Reyna gives Scout a pointed look and the niffler shrugs, rubbing his stomach with a joyful glimmer in his eye.

"What am I gonna do with you, huh?" Reyna tilts her head and Scout licks her face. "You know I can't stay mad at you when you- Alright, alright, just no more stealing the mince pies. I'm sure Mrs Weasley will give you some"

"I've got you something," George says, sitting down next to Reyna on the bed before handing her a messily wrapped parcel.

Reyna opens the package and stares at the object in front of her, her head tilted in confusion.

"It's something I made," George murmurs. "It's a charmed cloak, for a short period of time it casts a bubble around you which allows snow to maintain its form but it won't be cold enough to hurt you"

"That's really impressive magic," Reyna smiles, throwing the cloak on before pulling a pair of boots on.

"You want to try it out right now?"

"I want to touch snow," Reyna states.

"Off we go then,"

Reyna steps into the garden and her face lights up as she tips her head up. She could feel the coldness of the snow but George's charm had worked, when the snow touched her skin there was no burning. Her eyes fall closed as she pushes the hood of the cloak off her head and allows the snowflakes to land in her hair, the white a stark contrast to the deep ember locks.

"Reyna what are you doing?!" Draco shouts, rushing out into the garden in just his pyjamas and a pair of boots.

"The cloak is enchanted," George informs the boy. "The snow won't hurt her for short periods of time"

"That's really remarkable magic," Draco murmurs and George smiles proudly.

"Reyna, the enchantment will fade soon," George calls and the witch nods, walking towards the back door, savouring every second of the cold she could feel.

The dining room was filled with laughter and happy chatter as presents were exchanged and plates of food floated around their heads.

"Oh, Reyna!" Mr Weasley beams as he looks at the muggle book in his hands. "Modern Mechanics in The Modern Era"

"I saw it when I was out the other day,"  Reyna grins. "I thought you'd use it to help you tinker around"

"Reyna, dear, this is for you," Mrs Weasley hands her a large parcel which Reyna opens to reveal a cream-knitted cardigan that matched her beanie that rarely left her head during winter.

"I love it," Reyna grins, sliding the cardigan on.

Once the Christmas dinner had come to an end, everyone went their separate ways with plans for the teenagers to reconvene in the living room for alcoholic hot chocolates and movies courtesy of Reyna's television she had brought to the house.

The ember-haired witch's eyes scanned the hallway, making sure no one would see her leave before she pulled open the front door, slipping through before pulling it closed behind her.

Her eyes were alight with joy as she walked through the streets, Scout resting comfortably in her pocket. The Niffler had been glamoured by Reyna to appear as a small dog to avoid muggle attention.

The witch pushes open the gate to the park where Caleb had visited her in the summer before his death and subsequent rebirth. Reyna crouches down by a large tree which has her and Caleb's initials carved into it inside a rough engraving of a flame. The witch's fingers trace the letters, a sad smile on her lips.

The park was bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun, casting long shadows that danced across the grass. Reyna's ember-coloured hair seemed to catch fire in the fading light as she lingered by the tree, memories of moments spent with Caleb flooding back.

She swore she could almost hear his laughter echoing in the gentle rustle of leaves above, the same leaves that had witnessed their secret meetings and shared confidences. A mix of emotions played on Reyna's face – joy for the memories they had created, and sorrow for the loss that still lingered.

Scout poked his head out of Reyna's pocket, his eyes watching the witch. The small creature seemed to understand the bittersweet moment, nudging Reyna with his snout, offering comfort.

"What would I do without you huh?"
