- "I'M HERE EVERY DAY MATT. i do not want to be here again." grace complained as matt opened the door to panera bread for her to walk through.
"you'll survive. plus i'm really craving their mac and cheese right now." he deadpanned and went to walk in after her but chris cut in and rushed passed him before he could close the door.
"thanks bro." jackson patted matt on the back as he walked into the panera as well, following behind chris.
"aw thanks matt." madi smiled at him before continuing to gossip with ivy about some apparently very interesting topic.
"this is hilarious." nick snorted before walking in and finally allowing matt to walk in and catch up with his friends who were already in the line.
"so chivalrous." ivy stated to tease matt when he reached them. he just crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at her before looking up to the menu as if he didn't already know what he wanted.
"why did we choose to eat here again?" chris questioned, remembering that he had been craving chick fil a but he got stuck with panera bread.
"we did not choose anything, i was coming here with gracie and you all tagged along. uninvited." he narrowed his eyes again and chris just rolled his own. nick's eyebrows shot up at his brother's commentary, being surprised with his choice of words.
"was it a date?" he asked and gracie furrowed her eyebrows as the two of them looked at each other with the same facial expression and then back at nick.
"what? no." they said at the same time and the rest of the group really just blinked at them.
"oh fuck this shit." chris waved his hand to dismiss them two and then stood next in line.
gracie turned to matt, looking at him and shuffling closer so she could speak quietly. matt's eyes widened but he played it cool knowing exactly what she was going to ask.
"it wasn't a date." he beat her to the question with the answer and she just nodded.
"okay." she nodded looking forward as their friends ordered and she just crossed her arms. "you said you needed to tell me something." she reminded him and and he grew embarrassed, especially with their group of friends just two feet away.
"it doesn't matter now." he shrugged and she raised her eyebrow.
"are you sure?" she paused again, placing a hand on his arm gently. "we can sit somewhere else if you want." he looked down at his arm before looking up and smiling softly at her.
"i just needed to say—"
"NEXT!" matt was cut short when they were called to order. grace looked forward and noticed that their friends were no longer standing there but over by a booth bit enough for all of them.
