- "DID YOU PLAY SPORTS IN HIGH SCHOOL?" matt asked gracie as she showed him pictures from her yearbook. they were in her parents house, picking up some stuff for gracie before they went to the beach. no one was home and the two sat down to look at old pictures.
"i played soccer and did drama, i never missed a school play." she snorted, flipping the page of the yearbook and finding a picture of her ivy and jackson in the superlative section winning best friend group. "honestly we were only popular because of me and jackson's parents. no one really wanted to be friends with us just for status. gosh i hated high school." she passed the book over to him and matt nodded, understanding what she was saying.
"where are your parents? and your brother?"
"i dunno some business trip in spain? i think. doesn't matter." she patted his legs and pecked his lips before getting up from her spot on the floor. "it's already twelve and it's hot, that means it's time to go to the beach." she reminded him and matt laughed softly, closing the yearbook and placing it back on her desk.
the two planned to spend the day together when matt finally landed back in los angeles. he slept for a couple hours and then the next thing he knew he was waking up to grace excitingly texting him to go out.
he couldn't help but fall into her smile, even if he was still tired.
the two left gracie's house with what they originally went in for and then made their way to the beach. matt's hand was holding hers as he drove, letting her choose whatever music she wanted play.
which was something that convinced him he was actually in love with her. because he did not like her music taste. but watching her smile every time she really liked the song made him want to sing along with it— even if it was taylor swift.
