"MATT!" gracie cheered when the face time call connected. it was the first time they were speaking on call in the past couple of days, and matt was hoping he had her for at least ten minutes.

the moment he left for boston gracie got busy and it was harder for them to speak like they normally did. even harder than it was when she was in new york for that month.

the most it had been for the last four days were text message conversations and five minute face time calls in between takes on set for gracie.

the only reason matt was sucking it up was because he knew she was going to be flying to boston for five days before she went back to l.a. and back to her job.

"hey, what're you up to?" he asked, closing the door to his childhood room and going to sit in his bed.

"i'm hiding from jackson and oliver— oh my goodness matt when you get back you have to meet oliver he's so funny. he's the one i told you that i forgot his name. he reminds me of nick and—"

her ramble went on and matt looked at her with a smile on his face. she got so excited when she talked about work and her cast-mates. why would anyone ever want to take that joy away from her?

"anyways what have you been doing?" she finished her word vomit and matt blinked as he tried to remember what he had done the past couple of days.

"uh we saw some friends, and obviously my mom
and dad. nate is literally over like every day- he's excited to meet you by the way. so are my parents you're all they've been talking about." he laughed and gracie picked at the bracelet on her wrist.

"don't tell me that i'm going to cancel my flight." she partially joked.

ever since she agreed to meet him in boston, she hadn't been able to stop thinking about having to meet all the people who cared about matt more than anything. this was his family. and clearly she did not have a good track record with family.

"gracie, c'mon they already love you," he reassured her, yet her concern didn't change and he could see it in her face. "if it makes you feel better, i haven't told them about- well you know." he stopped himself short.

how would they describe their dynamic? it wasn't technically a relationship because they had yet to speak about labels. but he wasn't seeing anyone other than her and neither was she.

and now that they were together- for lack of better words or labels- matt always wanted to be with her. it was always a stolen kiss as a greeting, and he was always holding her in some way.
