The Fire Within

Special: Darkclan Secret

RavenStick jumped onto a ledge, careful not to fall. He was showing the apprentice, Snowpaw, the caves and it's twisted tunnels. He could see she was excited when he asked her if she wanted to see them. He would be too.

It wasn't everyday that an apprentice got a tour of the caves.

Snowpaw pulled herself up beside him.

"How big is this place?" She coughed from dust.

"You'll never believe how many caves we still haven't found." He pushed her to another ledge, too high for her to reach. She gasped when she looked over it. He smiled, remembering his first time here too. He pushed her all the way over, then pulled up beside her.

They looked over a underground waterfall, about five foxes down. The water came from a stream above them, near camp. When he glanced at Snowpaw, her eyes were wide with wonder.

"Wow. No one told me about this!"

"That's because it's a secret. This is a secret base for emergency." She gasped again.

"Now don't tell anyone about it. No other apprentice or kit knows about this. And don't bring it up with anyone but Redstar. Got it." She nodded slowly, still amazed.

"Lets go. I'm on hunting patrol." He helped her down and lead her through the tunnels. A click of claws echoed through the tunnel. RavenStick stopped.

"Was that you Snowpaw." She stopped too, but the echos continued. Snowpaw tensed and stared behind them. RavenStick stepped in front of her, and squinted through the darkness. The sound stopped, and two eyes stared back at him.

Time stopped. The cats stared at one another, frozen. Then the other cat spun around and raced off into the darkness. RavenStick felt an impulse to run after the cat, but he was still frozen.

He know that cat. How was it possible!

A storm had token her!

But she was here, after so many moons.

Then, why was she hiding?
