"RockFur,WolfClaw, WindFern and StoneHeart, thank you for helping this clan in the time of your arrival and now. Though many are sad that you must depart, remember that you are always welcomed in Fire clan." NightingStar said to them. The other clan cats stood in a line waiting to say their good byes.
The brothers stood bravely beside their sister, waiting for her to start saying goodbyes to her friends. Each brother had a emotionless face, so WolfClaw didn't know what they felt. She look to her mother, Scarlet, and her newly found cousin. BrownFang had come back with a patrol to retrieve Scarlet and her kits. They sat together at the entrance of the camp, anxious to leave.
WolfClaw started forward. She signaled her brothers with her tail to stay put when they tried to follow her. She walked up to NightingStar.
"NightingStar, you're doing a fine job of leading this clan. AshStar will be proud. My brothers and I have had the privilege to live with you all, and we are great-full for that. Thank you for watching over us Fire Clan." She looked down the line of cats. The closest, MorningWing, had tears in his eyes.
"That's why, I choose Fire Clan." WolfClaw announce bravely.
Every cat in the clan stared. WolfClaw felt her paws go numb. She was so nervous.
The silence continued, till a brave soul yelled:
"WolfClaw! WolfClaw!"
Another chimed in.
"WolfClaw!! WolfClaw!!"
More shouts. More happy cries.
Till the whole clan's voice echoed through the forest. Then the sounds of laughter and paws as they rushed at her, embracing her. She could feel the rush of love as the cats smiled at her, told her she made the right choice.
The group parted then, reveling RockFur.
He smiled at her,"I choose Fire Clan too."
"I do too!" A voice shouted. WindFern limped over, dragging his foot behind him. StoneHeart walked beside him.
He grinned at her, "You think would let you get all the fame?"
They all looked to their mother.
She smiled proudly at them,"You've grown up."
She walked to them and licked each of them. WolfClaw leaned against her mother and sighed.
"I'm sorry you have to leave without us."
"Oh don't be!" Her mother laughed, "I know you were going to stay."
...
"Wait, what!"
She chuckled at their surprised faces, "A mother knows her kits better then they know themselves. I did give you life, after all (all but WindFern). I knew that WolfClaw would refuse to leave, and where she goes, her little clan will follow." She looked at the brothers, "You didn't want to leave anyway. Am I right?"
They laughed.
"I love you mom." WolfClaw purred.
"EXCUSE ME!!" A voice growled behind them. BrownFang glared at them, fur raised, claws out.
"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME YOU MOUSE BRAINS WOULD RATHER TO STAY HERE, THEN LIVE IN DARKCLAN!!"
"BrownFang..." Scarlet warned, but BrownFang ignored her.
"I WOKE UP THIS MORNING, WAS ABLE TO CONVINCE SOMEONE TO WATCH MY KITS, DID A FILL PATROL, DID ALL THIS WORK, JUST SO YOU CAN SAY NO!!" She rambled on and on.
As BrownFang paced and yelled, Scarlet leaned in and whispered, "She's a first time mom, don't take anything she says to seriously. She also has a little temper." WolfClaw giggled.
"AND ANOTHER THING-"
"I think it's time to go." Scarlet said, hurrying over to the patrol. But before she got to them, she remembered something, and called to NightingStar, "Meet me at sun-high tomorrow at the border by big rock. Send a patrol, what ever. I'll explain later."
And with that, she followed the DarkClan out of the camp.
