The Fire Within

Chapter 8

"No. You crouch like this!" Stormpaw crouched.

"Then your tail will show!" Wolfpaw scolded

"Well I can't put my paws too far. I'll trip!"

"Does it matter!" Rockpaw mumbled.

Stormpaw glared at Wolfpaw.

"Can we please act our own age." Owlsong groaned. Nightingale turned to the cats, "Wolfpaw, Windpaw, Rockpaw and Stonepaw, since this is your first full moon with the clans, please stick close to each other or your mentors." He then called over AshStar.

"Is everyone ready?" She asked. Nightingale nodded, and Ashstar signaled everyone to follow.

"Wow, your first Moon!" Stormpaw whispered to Wolfpaw, forgetting their argument. "Are you excited?" Dovepaw jumped in. "Well sure. But I'm still nervous." Wolfpaw admitted.

"About the other clans? Your fine!" Dovepaw said reassuringly.

"Don't worry, no one will recognize you." Stormpaw added.

"Thanks." Wolfpaw replied. She hurried over to her brothers.

"I see you made some friends.I really like the looks of that gray one. That's a nice start." Stonepaw teased. She glared at him. "Remember, friendship is important first in a relationship." Windpaw stated, playing along with Stonepaw. Wolfpaw rolled her eyes. "You guys are crazy."

"Thank you." Rockpaw added. She glared at them all, making them laugh. Oh way didn't I have a sister. Unless Stonepaw's been lying to us the whole time about his gender...

"Here we are!"

Wolfpaw stopped to look around. There was a clearing filled with cats. In the middle was a pile of rocks. Two cats stood on top of the highest rock, talk to one another. On the ground, cats of different clans were chatting with one another.

With Owlsong's teaching, Wolfpaw was able to find which clan was which. So far, there was Cloudclan, Mistclan, and Fireclan.

As she was told, she keeped beside her brothers. More like they stayed close to her. When Rockpaw and Dovepaw came back, things got really crazy. But seeing her brothers in order behind her, made her feel better. Rockpaw, Stonepaw and Windpaw each had a place to walk. Rock on her left. Stone on her right. Then the Wind to her back. They made their way to a quiet spot and sat down together.

"Wolfpaw!" Wolfpaw looked over to see Shadowclaw walk over.

"Hi, how are you?" She asked. She smiled at Wolfpaw. "Fine, you?" Wolfpaw replied. "Great. Who are they." She said as she looked Wolfpaw's brothers over.

Wolfpaw lifted her tail to point, "Rockpaw, Stonepaw, and Windpaw. My brother's. Guys, this is Shadowclaw." The cats nodded, but started to chat about something or another.

"I've never seen you here. You just realize there's a moon?"

"N-No, i just never had the chance to come."

"But you are-" but Shadowclaw was interrupted by the arrival of Darkclan. Wolfpaw spotted the leader jump up to the other leaders to begin. The cats under the pile killed their conversations to listen.

The light brown cat stepped forward. "Cloudclan is getting more strong. My sister, MapleFox, had three kits. She has named them Bravekit, Jaykit, and Echokit in owner of her mate. We have a new apprentice, Skypaw." He waited as the cats cheered for Skypaw. When it died down, he stepped back for the next cat. The mistclan leader did a quick report, then Ashstar stepped forward. "Prey is running nicely. We have discovered a fox set near the border of mistclan." She nodded to their leader, then continued. "We have some new apprentices. Rockpaw, Stonepaw, Wolfpaw and Windpaw." Wolfpaw looked up in suprise. Cheers and chant were called. But we aren't even members! Unless... This isn't just an announcement to the clans!

She stared at AshStar, and saw that she was smiling. Ashstar nodded to her.

She sat back and gave room for the last leader. Darkclan

The cat stepped forward. His pelt was black with red stripes on the end. She was so nervous that he would see her and reorganize her brothers, that she didn't listen to his report. When he was done, she almost forgot Shadowclaw was beside her.

"Since you've never been to the gatherings, the first cat is Sandstar. The second is my leader, SilverStar. Then yours and Redstar." ShadowClaw nodded to her, then hurried to her leaving clan.

"Come on Wolfpaw!" Stormpaw called. Wolfpaw hurried over and followed the clan back home. And as an official cat of Fireclan.
