Epilogue
Aniel

THE LAST TIME that I saw Nemesis dancing and bouncing while her eyes were glowing was when she was chosen as one of the candidates for the head position of the Architecture and Design Department in ASDG. All her brightness and glitter vanished when I hurt her in order to protect her.

I hurt her. I am not proud of that. But if given the chance to do it again just to protect her from those people who wanted to include her in their evil schemes, I would do the same stunt that I did in a heartbeat.

Lucky for my heart, the sun once again shines for me and her. Her rosy cheeks were glowing under the crystal lights above us. Her eyes were like the stars, shining and twinkling out of happiness, while her lips were moving to tell me random stories that made my day complete.

She was everywhere—her voice, her smiles, her laughter—everywhere. And I sat there like a statue, enjoying everything her existence could give me.

This woman has no idea how her smiles could melt my heart in an instant. She doesn't know how her laughter could be the melody that keeps my sanity intact. She doesn't know how her love for me could make me think a lot of dumb things, like asking her to marry me.

I blinked my thoughts away and tried to refocus my attention on her story. She's telling me now how her heart was beating fast when Engineer Cordova told her that she was promoted. I suppressed my smile so she wouldn't feel embarrassed about how chatty she was right now. And knowing her, she's nervous. She's always chatty whenever she's nervous.

I was also nervous. We're currently waiting for her parents to arrive at Kupid's Arrow. I helped Nemesis reserve a table for the four of us. The dinner was at eight, but we were already here, straight from work, while it was still seven quarters.

It was too early, but it's better.

"Aniel. Nakikinig ka ba?" she asked when she noticed me staring at her lovely face.

"I am," I answered.

"Ano'ng sinasabi ko?" she cutely raised a brow at me.

"You're telling me about your brother's stinky socks that went flying over your bedroom," I answered attentively.

She breathe in. "So... iyon na nga..." And she continued her story.

I was never a fan of long talks or random conversations. I'm also always bored by one-way communication, such as speeches and symposiums. But when it comes to Nemesis and her random stories, I always find myself enjoying hours and hours of listening and saying nothing aside from laughing and smirking at her exaggerated expressions. I thought it was cute. She's cute.

I let her talk for more minutes until she went silent as the time was nearing to eight. I was sitting beside her. The long chair across us was reserved for her parents.

"Kinakabahan ako," she admitted when I touched her hand and I felt it cold.

"I believe my brothers were scarier," I kid, but my voice doesn't sound like kidding.

"Ano sa tingin mo ang gusto nilang sabihin sa atin?" she asked me.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know, love. Maybe they also want some clarifications."

She sighed and did not say anything again. We went silent until the clock strikes eight. Two minutes passed and I can already spot Nemesis' parents from the outside of the restaurant. I immediately told her that they have arrived. She startled from her seat before fixing herself. I stood up and she followed. Her parents approached our table.

"Good evening, Engineer Salvacion," I greeted formally. She started at me for a minute. I remained my face blank.

"Good evening, hijo. Please, call me Tita Gab," she said and my heart almost exploded inside my chest.
