Chapter 28

CONFETTI SHOWERED above my head the moment I entered the planning room. My workmates were standing on the corner clapping and chanting congratulatory words to me. Kuya Rob was beside Miss Jemma. He was smiling while holding a rectangular cake with the words 'Congratulations on your promotion, Miss Jemma and Nemmie!' on it.

"Oh, my gosh, guys!" I said happily and went to them. "Thank you!"

Binati nila ako isa-isa. I asked them kung kanino nila nalaman ang promotion ko, and of course, tinuro nilang lahat si Miss Jemma. I laughed because she still tried to defend herself. Narinig daw niya kasi na nag-uusap sila Annica tungkol sa surprise nila para rin sa promotion niya. She interjected and told them na pati rin daw ako ay dapat bigyan ng surprise. Siya raw ang nag-utos kay Kuya Rob na isali ang pangalan ko sa cake. Kaya nalaman ng mga katrabaho ko na mapo-promote ako after the project in Batangas.

Miss Jemma went near me and hugged me. "Welcome back, Nemesis," she said gently.

Napangiti ako at niyakap siya pabalik. "Thank you so much, Miss Jem. Congratulations!"

She chuckled and let me go. The ladies asked for a photo and we all gathered together while Kuya Rob was already stretching his arm while holding the phone. After the picture taking, pinilit muna nilang manatili si Miss Jemma sa planning room para makakain ng cake.

"Paano na 'to ngayon? Miss Nemesis na ba ang itatawag namin sa 'yo?" Kendall wiggled her brows.

I chuckled. "Whichever you prefer, Dallie."

We ate the cake that they brought. Marami sa kanila ang hindi pa raw nag-breakfast kaya tumawag na ako sa café para mag-order ng coffee.

"You're the best, Nems!" Annica joyfully hugged me while the delivery boy distributed their coffees.

After our mini celebration, nagpaalam na si Miss Jemma dahil kailangan pa niyang ayusin ang mga gamit niya sa bago niyang office. Ako naman ay bukas pa makakapag-ayos ng cubicle ko dahil hindi ko pa naman nadadala iyong mga gamit ko.

When lunch came, sinundo ako ni Aniel at Channing para kumain sa resto sa ibaba. I was surprised when I saw Triton with him.

"Bati na kayo?" nagtatakang tanong ko sa kanila.

Triton chuckled and placed his arm around Aniel's shoulders, which the latter didn't bother to shove away.

"Yup! We already kissed and made up." Triton yelped when Aniel nudged his arm on his ribs.

"Nemmie!" Channing interrupted the two as he hugged me so tightly. "I missed you. Congratulations on your promotion!"

I hugged Channing back. "Thank you, Chan."

"I'm so proud of you!" He was so happy for me that he even pinched the tip of my nose.

Natigilan kaming dalawa nang tumikhim bigla si Aniel. I rolled my eyes when I saw him staring at us blankly. Channing laughed beside me before he leaned over my ear to whisper something.

"And I heard about you and Aniel." He smirked. "Ikaw, ha..."

Pabiro ko siyang inirapan saka ngumisi. Hindi naman siya mukhang tutol sa amin ni Aniel. I mean, he may be my ex, but he's also my friend. At kung mayroon mang nakakakilala rin kay Aniel nang husto, si Channing iyon. Alam niya kung may kalokohang tinatago si Aniel o wala. At dahil wala naman siyang sinasabi tungkol sa binata, then I guess he approves.

"Let's go. Susunduin pa natin si Freeda sa baba," yaya ko sa kanilang tatlo.

Sumakay na kaming apat sa elevator at tumigil pansamantala sa floor ng Marketing department para sunduin si Freeda. Nakaayos naman na siya nang sumilip ako sa opisina niya kaya agad din kaming nakalabas ng building.
