I'd never really been around the dungeons before, or seen them up close, but now, I got the chance of a lifetime to play the criminal awaiting a sentence and rot in one.
I sat in a ragged old set of clothes that stunk and hung loosely on me like flappy skin and torn old worn shoes with a hole so my toe stuck out. It was dark and stunk of blood and dirt with a hint of a moldy funk. I sat on an old dusty stained bed without a pillow or blanket and stared darkly at the floor.
It felt so weird to once be the good guy that threw people away in these cells, but to have the tables turned and be the person who sat in this stinking cell took a turn on me.
There was a creak and footsteps into the dungeons and approached my cell. I looked up to see Sonya, she stood in her usual black Guardian gear and at her side was a guard who with a curt nod left us alone. I jumped up, relieved to see a familiar face.
"Sonya," I said moving to the bars that separated us.
She stood with her usual pouty face, hinted with something that looked sardonic.
"I've come here with a message from Enrique," she said dryly.
I stood with my body pressed against the bars, eagerly waiting.
"He said he's working on getting you out, so don't be afraid."
I sighed with relief, resting my head against the bars. "Thank god."
"But, in my opinion you should be, Fallen."
I jerked my head up ad narrowed my gaze at Sonya who's dark grin had gone even more devilishly cruel.
"What did you say?"
"Oh? I'm sorry, isn't that what you are? An abomination with both bloods?"
I gawked. "You...you know?"
She sucked her teeth irritably, her daunting blue eyes flashing icily. "Unlike you, a handful of us know your dirty little secret and unlike most, I'm the only one putting this knowledge to good use."
I frowned, shaking my head. "I-I don't understand."
"God, for everyone's favorite little angel, you really are stupid," she said in an annoyed voice. "I just happened to be flying late last night and saw you and your sweet lover Enrique, cuddling together on that pathetic little tree of yours and caught wind of some interesting information."
I felt myself go pale. "You-?"
She nodded proudly. "Yeah, I heard your little dirty sin. You know, it kind of comes at an advantage when everybody treats you like an invisible useless ghost. People hardly ever notice I'm there until it's too late and there standing behind bars." Crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at me she said, "So many years I've stood in your shadow, watching your happy ever after."
