My legs cramped and sweat dribbled all the way down my chest as I jumped off the treadmill that hummed tiredly as it shut off. My legs felt like complete jelly as I meandered weakly over to Raven who stood from her chair and tossed me a towel.
"Nice job, Lilith," she said gazing at me proudly with her hands on her hips.
I groaned and threw my face into the towel, "T-thanks," I gasped sopping up the dripping sweat.
"While you were working out, Alice told me to tell you that we're having a dinner tonight and wants us to be there at exactly five. You probably should get showered so we're not late."
I nodded without refusal, mostly because I hadn't caught my breath yet, I grabbed my bundle of borrowed clothes and followed Raven out of the workout room and down the hall to the showers.
My muscles seemed to just melt under the hot water and steam. It'd been a while since I'd done any hard working out—and flying obviously didn't count anymore.
Shutting the shower off I reached for my towel wrapping around myself and stepped out from behind the curtain, I backpedaled with surprise. "Raven!?" I gasped, nearly toppling head over heels in my own soapy puddle. "What are you doing?" I barked to Raven who nonchalantly looked up at me from her book.
"Oh, calm down, we're all girls here. There's nothing you've got that I won't be surprised about."
I made a face.
"Fine, I'll turn around." She groaned and turned her back to me. "I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't make us late."
I was careful not to slip, but keep a close eye on her the whole time as I hung tightly on to my towel, making it over to my clothes that sat on the counter.
"You know, I'm surprised my brother went as easy on you as he did back there in the training room," she said still keeping her back to me. "Usually people end up with more than a few cuts or bruises."
I slipped my shirt over my head, leaning against the counter for support. "That was going easy on me? Did you miss the part where he electrocuted me like ten times?"
She laughed and flipped a page to her book. "You're lucky you guys aren't using the real weapons yet."
I snuck he rest of my clothes on as she turned and faced me as if she knew I'd finished.
"Yeah, me too—hey you're supposed to be turned around!" I accused.
"Oh, you're done anyway," she said screwing her face up at me. She stood and walked over to the mirror, fixing her hair, "You done, can we leave now?"
I tightened my belt and nodded, "Yeah." I motioned over to her book as I grabbed my towel and slung it over my shoulder. "What are you reading?"
"Oh, this?" she said looking down at her black leather cover book. "Just a hundred and one ways to kill using nothing but you're teeth."
I looked at her, and walked away stiffly.
"What?" I heard her calling after me as she padded after me.
Raven led me down the hallway again through the kitchen that was filled with heat, steam, wondrous smells and people moving around with giant bubbling pots and sizzling pans. It looked like a witch's coven, brewing potions and stews that seemed to puke wondrous smells. I tried not to stray by my hunger and followed her into the dining room where Alice and Lucien sat talking together at a great long rustic wooden dining table with a beautiful black chandelier with sparkling white glowing lights dangling from its iron branches above them.
