Gwen led us in and promised not to scream anymore. Thor put away his sword, but that didn't stop him from watching Demetrius with untrusting eyes. I don't think he quite understood the whole Demetrius killing Falcon thing was okay, I didn't blame him. It was going to take me a while to get used to—and he didn't even know the whole truth.
I'd told Gwen and Thor as much as I could without going into too much detail about everything. Demetrius and Raven stood around the living room as awkward as two half demon people could be sitting in the middle of an angelic city.
"This is wild, Lilly," Gwen said as she sat down on the couch in some clothes she'd changed into, gazing once and a while at Raven who tried her best to smile back politely, but her lips were pressed together too tightly to make any sort of happy shape.
"I know, tell me about it," I said.
"So, can you help or not?" Demetrius barked suddenly.
Both Gwen and Thor jumped suddenly, looking to Demetrius who glared at them both impatiently. Clearly he didn't really want to stay and chat, I didn't blame him, we had a demon army arriving in only a few hours.
"I—I don't know—"
"Wonderful," Demetrius hissed.
"Hey!" Thor snapped getting to his feet. "I'm sorry if we're not so onboard with his incredibly impossible and crazy plan—not to mention finding out that Lilith is actually alive and not some demon bait somewhere."
Demetrius growled. "She's here, she's alive, what more can't your eyes see!"
Thor looked to me with a wary gaze as he straightened. "I'm sorry, but you must've bonked your head or something when they kidnapped you to be head over heels for the same guy who killed Falcon!"
In the corner of my eye, I saw Demetrius flinch.
"Its—its hard to understand, Thor—"
"Yeah, it is."
I sighed and looked to Gwen, feeling this plan beginning to shatter beneath my feet.
"Listen," Raven said unfolding her arms abruptly as if she couldn't take the dialogue for much longer. "You guys don't have to help us , we get that its a dangerous mission, but we're doing it for the sake of the innocent people here in Avon. You can help us if you want, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we all died tonight."
Gwen let out a little squeak through her tightly clenched teeth.
"But we've got to try saving these people and we have only so many followers to do it with."
"There's a demon army coming at dawn, that's not too long from now and as soon as they come, everyone who is angel will be torn into pieces," Demetrius assured.
Thor sighed and raked his hand through his messy sandy blonde hair. "So, you're saying, that, if we stick around, they'll probably come after us too?"
Demetrius looked to me before nodding slowly.
"Fine," Thor grunted.
Gwen squeaked again and jumped to her brother's side. "No! Thor, I'm not losing you again to a blood bath!"
Thor shot her a look. "Gwen, I don't want to sit around on my ass or run from a fight. I don't want to be helpless anymore. I'm gonna go."
Tears flooded Gwen's eyes and in the corner of my eye, Raven watched intently. I sensed this was a bit of déjà vu for her.
"I don't want you to go," she sniffled.
Thor rubbed her shoulders. "I know you don't, but you knew this was going to happen someday."
