Flying through the sunset, my wings soaring over the soft gusts, I thought about Demetrius, how I might never see him again; maybe only in my dreams. His hanging black pendant on my neck only made it worse.
For once, honestly in my life, everything was going to be alright. The world wasn't in a state of chaos and war, Gwen and Thor were safe somewhere with Alice, Raven was with her brother, at peace with that fact he was no longer turning into the monster they both feared. My family—the Fallen were finally safe and no one would try to hurt them ever again.
It was what my parents would've wanted; I could feel it.
Looking up into the burnt orange sky, the sun washing over everything; all evil was put to rest. I couldn't tell if it was fate or destiny, maybe both, but I chose right somewhere in the middle of it all.
It sounded like a corny typical modern fairytale, but it was all okay.
Now that only thing left was to ride off into the glowing sunrise that tiptoed over the mountains and led me to the very last pages of my story.
