The rest of the night went by in a blur.
I'd somehow found my way back to my room and tried to sleep away the hurt and anger, but only ended up dreaming about Demetrius. I'd recently found out, putting them together didn't work so well.
I sat alone in the kitchen with my pathetic cup of Luna tea. Just about pretty much everybody avoided me, or if they didn't clear the room out when I entered, they shot me enough dirty looks to make me leave instead.
Soft footsteps padded up behind me and I turned to see Noel. A huge burst of regret and guilt hit me. I'd just left him in the club last night, ditching without an explanation.
"Hey," he said.
I offered a small smile and grinned. "Hey." I stirred my steaming tea, Noel's eyes following my spoon like a magnet. "Listen, about last night—"
"You don't have to explain," he said fixing one of his bracelets on his wrist. "I understand."
I frowned. "You understand?"
He nodded, his orange eyes flashing. "It was about Demetrius wasn't it?"
I assumed Noel meant taking him to the Fall wasn't just about wanting to 'cheer myself up'. I'd done it to bait Demetrius and it'd backfired dramatically.
"I'm sorry," I said.
He shrugged. "It doesn't make any different to me. To be honest, I'm kinda glad I'm not in your weird love triangle you have going on." Noel fought a grin. "An angel who hates demons, and a demon who hates angels; it sounds like a bad joke."
"Yeah," I breathed. "And I'm the punch-line."
Noel's eyes softened as he scratched the back of his neck, eyeballing my tea as if he wanted a taste. "Well, I wouldn't worry about it, besides I—I think I might have something that might cheer you up."
I raised a brow. "What is it?"
Noel motioned me to follow. "I'll show you."
With boys completely off my mind and wanting to find out this 'surprise' Noel had for me, I followed down through the mansion, at Noel's side. We'd finally come to a room through the weaponry room that looked like a repair shop.
Noel quickly made himself at home and flicked on the lights.
There was metal everywhere. Wrenches, hammers, nails, sheets of metal and metal dust just about covered every table top in here.
"What is this?" I gasped as I was careful moving around a table that had long sharp pieces of metal hanging off the edge.
Noel disappeared behind a door and with a few moments of crashing I heard his voice. "This is my room."
I frowned, "Your room?" I winced as my boot crunched over a scrap of metal.
Noel grunted coming over to the table with a large object covered with a black sheet. "Yup, I make and repair all the gear, weapons, you name it." He set the rattling whatever it was down on the table with a loud jingle-jangle-thump.
"What is that?" I said peering at it warily from a good distance.
"Its—well, I've been working on this for a long time. I've basically finished it now and well—here," he quickly lifted the sheet and tossed it to the ground in a great swing, sending metal dust and debris into the air.
Coughing back the dust, and dusting the dirt from my hair, I turned back to the table, gazing at the long structured metal pair of...
"Are—are those...?"
