"Can you try to not like me? Maybe if you do, then I'll learn to not like you back."

"This is bullshit," Jin said, shaking his head and flipping a pen between his fingers. He looked around him and couldn't believe how he'd ended up there.
"Be quiet," the police officer sitting across from him said.
"I was harassed by that crazy pervert! Why the am I the one in a police station?" He spat, slamming the pen on top a clutter of paperwork on the table. "Why didn't you arrest her? Instead, she calls you guys and claim that I man-handled her?"
"Did you put your hands on-"
"Only to throw her out! She walked into the men's restroom and literally, watched me take a piss. She was staring at my dick like it was her path to freedom!" Jin yelled in defense. "What was I supposed to do instead? Pull her to her knees and shove it into her mouth?"
"No, but not touch her," The officer said, typing away on the old computer in front of him. "You're lucky she isn't pressing charges against you."
"I should be the one pressing charges against her. What is wrong with this system?!"
"Will you just calm down, Jin?!" The officer's voice rose for the first time that night. He looked angry at Jin. "Do you know how much trouble you could get in? You were at a club drinking alcohol. You realize that is illegal, right?"
Jin was quiet. He looked down at the stack of papers in front of him, next to a framed photograph of the Policeman hugging another Policeman. He felt his heart contrite at the sight as he tore his eyes away.
"You're nineteen! You shouldn't be at a club. You shouldn't be drinking alcohol and you sure as hell should not be touching filthy idiots who think just because they're a particular gender, they could do stuff and get away with it. You have no witness that she harassed you but she has a whole bunch of people who watched you shove her through the door. If she chooses to press charges, there's no escaping this for you."
Shaking his head, Jin started to speak. "This is wrong. It's absolutely wrong."
"The world isn't fair. The sooner you learn that the better for you. What were you doing at a club, Jin?"
"I needed the relief."
"Getting drunk and having worthless sex with strangers? That's your idea of relief? This wasn't the plan. You promised to do better. To be better. Is this it? Getting arrested?"
"I'm trying my best, Hoseok Hyung," Jin said in resolve, his shoulders slumping. "I'm trying to be a better person but every time I feel so much anger and betrayal and it shatters my heart every moment and makes me want to smash things. It's fucking hard for me."
His eyes stung but Jin stubbornly wiped the tears with the back of his hand before they fell. He took in a deep breath and let out a slow, shaky exhale.
Hoseok ran his hands through his brown hair in exasperation. He leaned back into his seat and shook his head. "You're just a kid. You shouldn't be feeling this shit. How are things at Chairman Jeon's?"
Shrugging, Jin cleared his throat. "Good. It's fine."
"No hassle?"
"No. It's really good. It takes my mind off things and keeps me entertained, I guess," He answered honestly. Chairman Jeon's agreement with him was to take care of his tuition through school as well as pay a little stipend every month to help him satisfy certain other things.
The job was good, Jin wouldn't lie. Hoseok had gotten him the gig after Ryujin had found him at the underground fight club at Woosan Station multiple times. After their parents' death, Jin had been left with so many unanswered questions that no one could answer and that only made him angry, and his way of letting it out was to fight.
The underground fight club had been the best outlet for them. He couldn't go around causing trouble on the street just so he could end up beating someone, so he signed up for the illegal activity at the age of 14. It had helped him relieve some of his anger and at the same time made him so much money because, he didn't just like fighting, he was damn good at it.
It had gone on for 2 years until his older brother, Ryujin, found out about it. Ryujin had told Hoseok, who was his college roommate and best friend, and Hoseok's solution was a 'bodyguard' gig.
At first, Jin would resume work at the Chairman's place at 7 from Monday through Friday and close by 7 in the evening. At that time, he had been living with Ryujin.
When the accident happened that fateful day, Hoseok had known he couldn't leave Jin on his own. The boy was in constant anger and he had to put him in a place where he could be protected as well as protect. His initial plan was to have Jin move in with him but Madam Jeon had taken such a fond liking to Jin and asked for him to come live with them, instead.
She trusted Jin and wanted him to set a good example for their son and heir to the Jeon Empire, Jungkook.
The Chairman had been skeptical about it because of Jin's age but Jin had proven himself a few times and had earned the family's utmost trust. Every member of the family seemed to like him except the actual person he was meant to be looking after.
Speaking of which, Jin grabbed his phone from the table and sent a quick message to Jungkook.
Where are you?
"I don't want you going to the club or getting in trouble," Hoseok said, more sternly. "I don't want you getting a free ride to the police station at the back of a police van."
"It's not my fault."
"It is for being at a club. If you were at home like a normal teenager studying then you wouldn't be here, would you?"
"But I'm not a normal teenager. I'm the fucked up kind. The kind that gets harassed and ends up getting arrested for it."
Hoseok nodded, then stood to his feet. "Get your stuff," He said and headed towards the door with Jin close behind. "Your brother wanted what was best for you. I want the same thing, Jin. But you have to understand that things wouldn't always happen in your favor. It's a cruel world out there, so you need to be careful."
Jin was at the bus stop waiting for the bus to arrive when Jungkook's response came in.
Royal Bratness: Definitely not at the police station, troublemaker.
Jin frowned at the message. Arrogant brat. How the hell had he found out?
