Are you settled in now?
Jungkook waited a few minutes for Bambam's response but got none. Worry tore at him, and he tried to push down the dread that had filled his stomach since they'd left Bambam's father's place.
Mrs. Soo had refused to sue. She was in love and also, she was considering her children. Jungkook got that. But the man was an evil person and didn't deserve the love he was receiving.
She'd walked away, which was the first step here. She'd been bold enough to do that and he'd been proud of her for it. With the way Bambam had talked about her and how she practically worshiped her husband, he'd been worried it would have taken a bit more convincing to get her to leave.
They were currently in a safe house, where Bambam's father would likely never find them. But it didn't stop him from feeling skeptical. He'd seen the look in Mr. Soo's eyes as his family walked out of his life. Such a person would never give up easily, and Jungkook knew he wouldn't. He'd try to look for his family and Jungkook would make sure that he'd never be able to find or harm them again.
He would have to talk to a security service to make do with his promise at keeping them safe. His family had an overflow of security men at his beck and call, but he was trying to keep this private. Even though what he was doing wasn't wrong, his parents would find a way to make him feel wrong for helping his friend.
By the way this was personal to him. He wanted to handle this by himself.
Jungkook had half the heart to send Bambam, his mum and his siblings to live in a different country. Enroll the kids in good private schools, buy them a comfortable house, a car, get Mrs. Soo a good paying job and send some money across to them monthly. He would do it in a blink of an eye if they would allow him.
But Mrs. Soo was a stubborn woman. She would never leave Korea.
When Jungkook's phone vibrated on the table, he leapt for it in hope that it was a text from Bambam. Disappointment flooded him when he saw the sender. Hanuel. Kim Hanuel, the First Son of Korea.
Hanuel - So excited to see you later!
Jungkook knew they were safe but he wanted to be certain.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. Jungkook tried to snap out of his head and carry on with his activities for the day. He had a lot to do and the one he was least thrilled for was going to last longer than the ones he did like.
He spent most of the day on his computer. His publishers were on his neck. He owed them a book, and they were getting impatient about it. For a minute there, he'd been stuck but then he'd had some major break through in his writers' block.
If things went by smoothly, he'd have the first draft ready in a couple of days. For a second, his hand stopped moving against the keyboard of his laptop sitting on his legs, he wondered what he was doing and why he'd made so much changes to the already finished work.
But he wanted his work to be perfect. Whatever he did, he wanted to do it very well, and that included his writings.
"Is the jet ready?" Jin asked from the front seat.
They were headed for the terminal where a private jet was supposed to be waiting for Jungkook to take him to the President's private holiday villa in jeju for the two days. A trip Jungkook wished he could skip.
"How long is it going to take? We're almost at the terminal. This was supposed to have been prepared before now. Weren't they informed before hand?" He asked, in exasperation. "Lee hyung, I'm like 10 minutes away and the jet isn't ready."
Just turn the car around and take me home then, Jungkook thought, not bothering to mouth it. He knew if he protested from now till 20 years, Jin would keep driving. He was head strong and rigid, like a Goat.
It was a good thing he was attractive or he'd have had zero chances of ever finding love or anything close to it, Jungkook thought, moving his gaze away from Jin and his pale, chiseled face. Why did he bother being a driver or a body guard? He'd have made a ton of money if he'd modeled. He had the face and the height for it.
His attitude would be a bonus in the modeling world. He'd met a lot of them attending events and fashion shows and most of them were snobs to you unless you had money or status.
"I'm sorry, Hyung, but I can't do that. I'm visiting my parents this weekend... Jungkook's security team can go with him or the presidential family can provide him with one... No one told me before hand, I already made plans, sorry... Yeah. Later,"
"Are you lying to get out of doing your job?" Jungkook asked, amused at what he'd just heard.
"What are you talking about?" Jin asked. Jungkook could feel his eyes on him but he didn't look up from his laptop.
"You're going to see your parents this weekend?" He scoffed.
"Yes, so?"
This time, he let his hands stop moving and he looked up at the rear mirror where Jin's eyes were on him. "That's a lie."
Jin furrowed his brows in confusion. "Why do you think so?"
"Because," Jungkook said, then shrugged. "I know for a fact that your parents are dead."
"And, why does that make me a liar?" Jin asked. If Jungkook's mention of his parents being dead had affected him in the slightest, it didn't show.
"How can you see them when they are not... you know, here, anymore?" Jungkook asked, cringing at how weird he'd felt and sounded when the words left his mouth. Jin was a tough guy, he reminded himself, his words couldn't hurt him.
"They didn't just disappear into thin air, did they?" Jin asked. Jungkook was rather shocked by how calm and responsive Jin was. Normally, he'd have snapped at Jungkook or threatened to run him over with the car.
Oh! He'd not reasoned it that way. "Oh."
Jin rolled his shoulders and Jungkook could see something unfamiliar glaze over his face. "I'm going to visit their grave tomorrow."
Jungkook stared back out of the window. "Why are you responding to me? You mostly ignore my comments."
"Right," Jin said and said nothing after that. He went back to driving in silence and Jungkook went back to working on his laptop with a weird feeling hovering in his stomach.
