“… and I really have no idea whether she meant what she said about my legs beings too short or not,” Yoongi’s voice faded back in, drawing Jungkook’s attention back to his puzzled face. “What are you so in thought about?”

Jungkook wished he could tell Yoongi his dilemma but he doubted it would help. Bambam and Hoseok’s reaction to him and Jin’s relationship only agitated him, and the last thing he wanted was to add to it by telling Yoongi and then receiving more judgements.

It didn’t help that Jin was self-sabotaging because of Jungkook.

Okay, maybe not self-sabotaging, but Jungkook didn’t want this. Of course, he wanted to be with Jin but he didn’t want Jin making such sacrifices because of him. The thing with Jin was, he was an idealist. He believed in fairytales, and refused to see the reality of what was happening around them.

Jin believed if he shut his eyes and his ears to the things happening around him, then he could make them disappear. But that wasn’t the reality. Things would continue to go on, whether he chose to accept it or not. Hoseok’s warning had been spot on, he regurgitated everything Jungkook had been afraid of from the beginning, what Jungkook had warned Jin about from the beginning.

Their relationship was on a shaky ground. As much as Jungkook wished it wasn’t so, he couldn’t change the fact that it was in fact so. If his parents found of about their relationship, the most they would do to him was send him away to a different country and cut of every means of communication with Jin. They would do that.

But for Jin, it would be so much worse. Jin was stubborn and Jungkook knew he wouldn’t give up on their relationship without a fight, so it meant what he had coming to him could possibly destroy his future. His mother was capable of making Jin’s life a living hell. She was capable of making sure that everyone around Jin felt the heat, just to prove a point.

These were things Jungkook was trying to make Jin understand, but Jin just believed he was trying to pick a fight, which he wasn’t. He wished he could make Jin understand that his favorite moments were the ones where Jin was smiling or laughing or talking with him, kissing him, sitting with him, hugging him… They were the moments where Jin was the happiest, so why would he want to ruin those by bringing unnecessary fights?

Jungkook wanted to have faith in their relationship. He wanted to believe that what they shared was strong enough to withstand any storm, but he also had to be realistic. Nothing was certain, especially their relationship.

“I think I missed a question in my math exam,” Jungkook said, which was also the truth. Just like now, he’d been spacing out all day, getting bombarded by his intrusive thoughts, even in the middle of his exams.

“Is everything okay with you? Lately, you’ve been a little distant,” Yoongi said. “We used to be so tight and now, it’s like I’m alone. You’re always in your own world and Bambam just disappeared from the face of the earth.”
