Jungkook looked upset when he got back and barely said a word to Jin as he went into his room to prepare for school.

Jin had already loaded his getaway luggage in the booth of the car and was waiting by the side of the car for Jungkook to come back out, so they could go to school.

It was past 8 and they were already late for first period, but he was barely bothered about missing a few minutes from History class.

He'd not seen Jungkook that upset. It was different when his parents scolded him or when he was being bratty to Jin. Jungkook had looked saddened by whatever it was he'd gone out for.

After his futile attempt at trying to find out from the security men who had gone out with him—because Jungkook had strictly warned them not to utter a word to anyone—he decided to wait until Jungkook looked less perturbed.

On the drive to school, Jungkook's face stayed turned towards the window, his eyes holding a distant gaze like he was there but not really. He was so far away in his mind and Jin wished he would talk, or ask him for help—whatever it was.

"Where did you go to?" Jin asked, his eyes leaving the road for the umpteenth time to look at Jungkook. Normally, it was Jin's job to protect Jungkook. To make sure no harm or trouble came to his physical being at all time, and Jin had always only been focused on that.

But that had been before Jungkook had showed him the care he had not realized he needed. For Taehyung and Jimin, it was not an unusual thing. They were his friends and understood why he'd acted that way. But Jungkook hadn't understood the situation but he had still catered for and nurtured Jin's feelings, sat with him in the cold class, waited out the rain for 2 hours and made sure Jin was fit before he'd proceeded to drive them home.

Jin had refused to acknowledge to himself that things had changed between him and Jungkook. At least, for him. He wasn't as repulsed by Jungkook as he previously was. And unlike before, seeing the amount of sadness emanate from him bothered Jin.

"Jungkook," Jin called calmly when Jungkook hadn't answered the first time.

For a second, Jungkook remained as he was, then his head moved and he was looking back at Jin. Jin could see the second realization hit Jungkook that someone had just spoken to him because his focus changed, and he snapped out of his own thought.

"Yes?" He answered, and not in his snobby, dismissive tone. Somehow, Jin preferred the snobby, annoying Jungkook to this one that was he going crazy with worry for.

"Where did you go this morning?" Jin asked again. His eyes refocused on the road, but his entire attention was on the boy behind him. The one who whiffed of Santal 33 and distress.

"Just out."

"And where is just out?" Jin asked, making a u-turn at the express and heading down the road to the most prestigious private school in Seoul.
